BIG KAHUNA: Music and fishing?
I listen to music almost all day at work and a lot at home. I've always got earbuds in my head. I'm listening to Pandora right now. I've been asked if I listen to music when I fish. Like with an iPod. I always say no. For one thing if I fall down in the stream -- that's hard on an iPod. Secondly, I go to the river because it's quiet. I can listen to music anywhere. Plus I don't think I could focus as well if I were listening to music.
However, I have seen lots of guys with earbuds in while fishing. Usually younger guys.
So, my question is -- do you listen to music while fishing? Why or why not? And what do you listen to?
O.F. -- I was listening to an 80s station yesterday and tonight I'm listening to reggae. I love Peter Gabriel.

This is actually an interesting question, fishing and music just so happens to be two of my favorite things. I've listened to music while fishing maybe once or twice, but that was when I was bottom fishing where line watching/rod tip watching was all I was doing. I still don't prefer to do that, I enjoy the peace and quiet.
I'm sort of a Hip Hop/Rap expert (which I could say the same for fishing..), so I usually have something uptempo in that genre or occasionally Country (usually late 80s to 90s stuff) or Metal.

What "genre" are you listening to on Pandora? I'm listening to "Peter Gabriel Radio" currently. But, I mostly listen to the Buddy Guy "station" when doing YAnswer's.
I've never been a music listener while fishing. I would miss too much.
When I go fishing I want the "full monty", which includes hearing splashes/water moving/ripples, smelling the air, feeling the wind, Etc.
I've found (over the years) that being able to hear fish surfacing CAN help you catch more.
I'm not sure this question has a "factual answer" ala Big K- but it's one I've never seen.

Well Perhaps not "While" Fishing per say. I might listen when it's one of those days where there is so much noise (ino hter words many bastards.... I mean wonderfull amazing calm and likable people at balboa! "Does creepy head side turn fake smile" Are making so much noise I can't even hear myself think, let alone bother to try listening to the fish. (besides, balboa is a peice of stuck water, and the moving water just makes the turd smell worse)
What will I listen to? When i'm not mad to an extent I listen to system of the down (rock band) or imogen heap (Kinda indi, but the backround music is really good) Personally I like instrumentals alot.. And perhaps A-k really is right. It messes up your emotions. But... isn't that the point of good music? To stir emotions and enrage you, or sadden you, or enlighten and lift your mood. It all depends. Some of the best instrumentals I have heard (strangely enough) come from a disney game for hells sake! (Kingdom hearts) And are composed by some lady... Yoko shiromuya or something like that.
Since this is more an opinion based question and there is no right or wrong answer, you can add links (since it dosent give away ANY answer) I think... Oh well if not oh well
Cavern of rememberance: It enlists an emotion of peace, yet abit of sadness.

Rage awakened: This gives off a burst of true emotion... When something so dear to you was ripped away. And all your emotions (weather passionate sadness or anxiety or happyness) All release and burst out as Rage and hatred! Raw power and nothing more. (there are two versions, this BBS version and the KH2 Final mix version)

"Unbreakable chains: A conflict and final settlement. Between faith or all being lost to darkness. Conflicting bits and peices of hatred and small glimmers of light penetrating the darkness. For a bag guy theme it sure as hell is hopefull.

Perhaps some of the better examples are up there. But there is alot more depending...
Anyway not much more to say then..

Kahuna!
in the car, going to or from and while moving to different areas at the lake or river l have the radio on either an AM talk program or a classic rock station such as KLOS.
while fishing, l, too prefer quiet but there are MANY occasions when l have to listen to someone else's heavy metal, mexican or country/western. and no matter what, it's always some piece of crap that they call music that l can't stand. a thousand decibels, it seems.
useta listen to the dodgers with a headphone but that was WAAY back when they had a team.

Nooooo, just like you said, I can listen to music anywhere, but I can't listen to the Lake/river/stream anywhere. I don't understand why people have to listen to music everywhere they go, the only time I listen to it is if I'm in the car, doing some work, or I'm just bored. When I hear the sound of the water, ALL my stress's get put on hold.

When I'm moving from place to place, spot to spot, I'll have the radio on... the couple stations I listen to play either classic rock or a variety of things.
Classic rock...
95.5 KLOS
Variety (lots of '80s and '90s)...
93.1 KCBS (also goes by JACK FM)
EDIT:
When I hook THE bass though, Gustav Holst's "Mars, the Bringer of War" will be playing in the back of my head.

Certainly ... The Naval Air Museum - Pensacola seashore on the protected countrywide beach - feet Pickins, where Geronimo used to be imprisoned for awhile and some say the first shots of the Civil battle were fired - And should you like country song go about 30 miles NE to Chumuckla and the Farmer's Opry. Food? Lots of high-quality seafood places on the town - decide on one overlooking the water somewhere. There are just a few near the historical municipal piers. I shall be going "down residence" in late July and seem ahead to the meals!
