What does Allah say about love/compassion?
Most people attribute Jesus with saying, "Love thy neighbor." Is there a quote similar to that from Allah? I'm doing this for a writing project and would like a simple quote from Allah.
Certainly, words from Mohammed would work as well.

[Qur'an 60:8] Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice.

It's pretty much reserved for fellow Muslims. Everyone else is fair game. Similar to the Old Testament.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) observed: He will not enter Paradise whose neighbor is not secure from his wrongful conduct.
