Compatible Video Card?

To the best my my knowledge I have an Nvidia Geforce 9600 GS model with 1 gb or DDR2 memory. I am not sure if need to replace my card, or just the fan. I am currently using this card to write this question... so it works, but the idle heat is 85-90C and when doing a current game on lower graphics settings it gets to 124 before I realized and closed the game. The fan does not seem to doing very much, but it is running. The fan is rather hard to find (or so I think, if you find one that is compatible let me know!) and a replacement video card will be about $60. I was wondering with my Windows 7 64 bit OS with a Quad Core of 2.2 MHz and a Pegatron Corporation Bencia which is created by Intel with a p35/G33/G1 chipset with BIOS of American Megatrends Inc version 5.33 what video cards are compatible (improvements only). If I am missing any information please let me know.

Update:

Product Number is: 5Q561AA#A3A

The sight below is the best place I found, but I do not see the fan I need in stock...

What should my next step be?

Since almost any graphics card upgrade will require a power supply upgrade as well, it would have been better if you had just told us which HP system you have (ex. HP Pavilion xxxxxx) so that we could look up the specs for your system. It most likely (unless you've already upgraded it) has around a 300W power supply that will not support much of an improvement over the 9500GS. Posting the make and model would allow us to find out if you have a slim tower system which will have very few power supply upgrade options, or if you have a mini/mid tower system that has a power supply that can be easily upgraded in order to support a better graphics card.

Buying another low end card would just let you realize in the end that you wasted your money on a not so good upgrade.

So the best move here is to buy a new GPU that is decent enough to handle all newer games today, like this one:

    XFX HD-677X-ZNLC Radeon HD 6770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - $110 ($95 after rebate)

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

This card can let you play all games on mid settings and some on high settings on 1080p, its power requirement is 450w or greater, thus you must make sure that your power supply is at least 500w branded type or you could get this one:

    COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus RS500-PCARD3-US 500W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply - $49

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

And lastly try to add more ram, since you have a 64 bit system then making your RAM to 4 gb would be ideal for gaming.

The GPU and PSU upgrade would not be a waste of money since when the time comes that you wanted to FINALLY build a new PC then you could just transfer the HD6770 and 500w PSU to your new MOBO.

the respond on your question isn't easy and promptly-forward. First, you are able to the two purchase an agp or pci based photographs card. AGP could be the greater constructive of the two, you are able to't improve to a pci-e card. the cardboard you get would be desperate via what you decide directly to be able to do and what your funds is. i understand you mentioned no web content yet considering the fact that there is not any of that info please take a glance at those sites. web page a million: your motherboard info. web page 2: Tom's Hardware handbook article appropriate Gaming photographs enjoying cards for the money. web page 3: Newegg AGP photographs enjoying cards i might recommend you get a card with a minimum of 128mb of onboard memory ideally 256mb. AGP has been replaced via PCI-e so i does not advise spending too plenty money. i in my opinion have a Radeon 9600 professional with 256mb of memory. I paid $one hundred forty a together as returned and it now sells for $sixty 5 shipped. that's a solid card, no longer the quickest available even if it has executed nicely for me. The Tom's article is somewhat solid. Tom's Hardware additionally has an interactive photographs card benchmark area. you are able to study overall performance (fps) of dissimilar enjoying cards. On a edge notice, how plenty RAM does your gadget have? 1GB seems to make abode windows XP based structures hum good alongside. desire this enables.

Download MSI Afterburner. It's an overclocking utility, but you'll be able to control your fan speed. Turn it up to whatever percentage is comfortable for your noise tolerance level, cause after about 40-50% fan speed, it starts to get annoyingly loud.

I'd just replace it with an ATI 5670 Radeon for about $60
