Why do they say to make a list and take it to your dr.?

And when you do they don't want to see it? This has happened to me every single time even the er dr.s. How do they expect to get a proper diagnosis if they are too ignorant to see the list? All they do is roll their eyes like you are a hypochondriac? Aren't they working for us? Do they not get paid if they don't see patients? Why is their ego more important then helping people? This is the attitude that has kept me from seeing a dr on a regular basis. Whats the point if they aren't going to listen and run up the bill doing tests that aren't needed?

You need to find a good doctor who will talk to you, and not down to you.

The doctor should listen to your concerns and answer in a way that you understand.

Sometimes, the reaction you get depends upon the length of the list. Usually, anything more than 3 items will get an eye-roll/sigh reaction - mainly because the appointment scheduled is not long enough to address the items. You can avoid this to a degree by letting the person who does the scheduling know when you call that you would like a longer appointment in order to discuss your current health concerns.

If you still get the same reaction from the doctor after this, then it's past time to find another medical provider. Try to get recommendations from friends or family (and let the doctor know who referred you) or contact your insurance company for assistance in finding a provider who meets your needs.

Medications - If a Dr. needs it, you have it. If you faint in the street or are in a car accident, the emergency medical workers may need it. If you have any allergies write them on your list of medications. Keep it with you, you never know. A piece of paper isn't heavy, nor does it take up much room in your wallet. Symptoms - You won't leave anything out, or forget something If you have it written down for you to read to your Doctor when they ask you what is going on with you. Insist that they listen for the 10-30 seconds it will take you to read it. Have it in your hand before they enter to see you. A piece of paper could save your life.

You SHOULD take a list. If your doctor rushes you and doesn't seem to care, it's time to find another one. Take your business elsewhere. Your insurance's website should have lists of doctors to choose from. Good luck!
