American Airlines, Delta & Continental do offer discounted fares in cases of bereavement or imminent death. Whether or not your family circumstances will qualify for such consideration may be found in the attached -

No...no airline does that. in the case of the death of a relative a few may give a bereavement discount, but this discount is from the full fare ticket. you can most often get an even better price if you shop around and find a cheaper ticket on your own.

It certainly doesn't hurt to ask the airline if they have such a policy and what you would have to give them to prove illness or death but I doubt very seriously that they will consider this an emergency of any kind.

rather than sitting around and asking people who have no clue, why don't you take action? Evidently, you don't really want to see the old geezer. If you did, you wouldn't be asking a group of misinformed yahoos for ideas.

No, there are no special fare discounts for family members of people who are ill.

you could try calling the airline -ask for supervisor
they might want proof like call from the hospital or his doctor before
giving you discount -

The cheapest way would be to have him shipped to you as airline baggage.
