Does the word 'Latter' fit with this sentence?

"Made in 1936, Dodge City starred Olivia de Havilland and Errol Flynn, and was the first of eight films for the latter."

    "1936 film 'Dodge City' commenced as the first of eight films starring Olivia de Havilland and Errol Flynn."
