Question for atheists about evolution?
Seems to me that the best argument religious folks seem to have against atheism is attacking evolution as something that is wrong.
So here is the question:
If evolution was proven wrong (can't be I know, its fact) would that hurt your atheistic views at all?
Cant see it hurting mine whatsoever to be honest...if I'm wrong about evolution that's fine...not knowing an answer to something really doesnt make it any more likely for god to be real. Since it's an argument used so often I guess that at least those using it assume that its going to knock atheist beliefs...but I cant see it working for anyone that's thought it through at all.
Two: You shouldn't reply having only read the title of the post. I clearly explained why it's a perfectly reasonable question to ask atheists...
what are you talking about? I asked this because it comes up when religious people argue with atheists...you're just trying to get offended...
@others. Nice replies :)

Charles Darwin failed miserably in his quest to validate his argument on Evolution. Evolution is a lie.
God created the Heaven and Earth as the Holy Bible declares (Genesis 1:1). Don't put faith in theories. Have faith in God.
Charles Darwin did not use good logic in his famous book, "The Origin of Species."
W.R. Thompson, a Canadian entomologist(entomology-study of insects) of international repute, wrote in his introduction to the centennial edition of Darwin's Origen, "Darwin did not show in the Origin that species had originated by natural selection; he merely showed, on the basis of certain facts and assumptions, how this might have happened, and as he had convinced himself he was able to convince others.
Chapter 4 of the Origin, entitled "Natural Selection; or the Survival of the Fittest," occupies 44 pages in the 1958 mentor edition. In this chapter Darwin used the language of speculation, imagination, and assumption at least 187 times. For example, pages 118 and 119 contain the following phrases; "may have been," "is supposed to," perhaps," "If we suppose," "may still be," 'it is probable," "will generally tend," "may" "will generally tend," 'If," 'if...assumed," "supposed," "supposed," "probably," "It seems, therefore, extremely probable," and "We may suppose." Is this really the language of science? No, it is not.
Of Darwin's speculative arguments Thompson wrote, "....Personal convictions, simple possibilities, are presented as if they were proofs, or at least valid arguments in favor of the theory....The demonstration can be modified without difficulty to fit any conceivable case. It is without scientific value, since it cannot be verified; but since the imagination has free rein, it is easy to convey the impression that a concrete example of real transmutation (change of one species to another) has been given."

Evolution has nothing to do with atheism. Theists can accept the evidence for evolution and atheists can decide that the evidence isn't good enough to support the theory (if they don't understand the science).
If evolution was found to be incorrect, which like you say is highly unlikely ever to happen, there would still be absolutely zero evidence for any god though (unless the evidence that disproved evolution also proved the existence of a god). For some reason most of the creationists that won't accept evolution as fact seem to think that if they disprove evolution it automatically makes THEIR chosen creation story correct (it seems impossible to make them realise that this is not the case).

I wouldn't be bothered by it. I am interested in the truth, not in holding onto ideas. If evolution were not the way animals evolved - so be it. It would have to actually be proven untrue, though, because the evidence for it is overwhelming.
Honestly, whenever I encounter some new bit of science (And a great deal of it is new to me), I question it. I don't believe it just because someone told me that it is true. I store it away for further explanation, labeling it as "likely true" if it comes from a reputable source, "Possibly true" if it comes from some source I don't know much about, and "likely untrue" if it comes from an unreliable source. But those labels don't stick if further research proves them to be untrue.

hrm, flaw to your query >>> Most who responded, their solutions weren't even their possess ideas, Maybe from books???? >>> Yes the recommendations ARE centered upon anything that anyone has tested and so they have been learn out of books. What is anyone simply meant to take a seat down and say "that is evolution" and simply wish it's the proper reply? The factor of technology is to invest what if, experiment the suggestion, and both turn out yay or nay to that suggestion. And sure the ones recommendations WERE recorded in books, it is known as historical past, and it is well to write down down... After all of the bible is an interpretation of a tale that anyone a LONG time in the past wrote down.... so you may also no longer purchase the truth that a few folks will learn a technology guide, and "get it" and "purchase" the recommendations within the guide and so forth.. however that's wherein notion tactics come from, study and recommendations of alternative folks which can be both tested or multiplied upon. (Even your bible is centered upon that). The predominant factor despite the fact that is that scientists dont simply say "that is proper and the whole lot else is improper" nevertheless Religion does, and in view that there are a couple of a thousand "religions" on the earth (one among that's known as scientology) they can't all be proper, so how are you able to be definite Christianity is the proper one in the event you dont query it?

Nope. I don't believe in gods because it's clear to me that today's religions are more myths.
It's very few, if any, atheists that base their atheism on evolution. In fact, the majority of christians around the world realize evolution is true, it's pretty much only American fundies that deny it.

Theres no reason why it should. The Theory of Evolution, like the Theory of Gravity, is something I take for granted sure, but if a better theory is proposed which is made evident by the vast amount of evidence which currently indicates evolution, I'll spin on a dime and applaud it.
Same goes for the god hypothesis, if it was proven to be true, I'd be shocked and surprised, but I'd shrug my shoulders and think "Well blow me, that wasn't expected, but thanks for clearing that one up Mr God sir? or is it Thor? or Ra? Yahweh? Quezacoatl?.. whats your preference?"

Not in the least.
My lack of belief in any deities did not stem from my understanding of the study of natural biological processes. If-- and that's a huge if-- evolution is ever shown to be incorrect, that does not mean I would automatically start to believe in Vishnu or that the world rests on the back of a giant turtle.

My lack of belief in god has nothing to do with the theory of evolution. It has more to do with the lack of evidence for a god as currently defined.

If science comes along with evidence proving evolution wrong, that does not necessarily mean creation is the alternative.

you shouldnt direct a question about evolution to atheists. atheism has nothing to do with evolution, not to mention you dont have to be an atheists to consider evolution as truth.
that still makes you ignorant for assuming there is only two types of people in the world- atheists and religious people.
