then evolved into humans? And you think religion sounds absurd *cocks head in amuse and amazement*

Olga, I love it when you try to claim something that is in my area of expertise, and I am going to do something wicked, and something you would not expect of an atheist.
First a quick lesson in chemistry and physics, areas of my expertise as you should already know.
There are 92 naturally occuring elements, some are very rare, and some are so dirt common you cannot avoid them, and one is like a plague of mice, it gets everywhere, and other is like some old tarts I know, present company exempted.
Those two are hydrogen and carbon, hyrogen are the mice, carbon is a real tart, and they like each other lots, they combine with themselves and almost everything else to make huge chain molecules, if you like me enjoy a Vodka and Coke, or I guess you are more Pink Gin, then in either case, its those hydrogen carbon bonds that make it so enjoyable.
Now hydrogen and carbon can join together in many ways and still be able to bring their friends to the party, hydrogen-carbon compounds react with anything almost, oxygen, iron, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, and if there are enough around they can form something called RNA, this will react with any amino acids (more carbon, more hydrogen), and in doing so they form self replicating molecules if there are sufficient other molecules around, get enough of this stuff together at a party, or in a pond of water, and they do there joining together thing again, and hey presto, you have self replicating cells, not life yet, but almost, once they can do this they can also bond chemically with other compounds and form super molecules, one of these is DNA, and once you have that, you have life.
So we know how it works, the problem for science is getting the amounts and conditions right, but as there are billions of possible combinations we just have to keep working our way through, that said it happened, and guess what I discovered, it says the same thing in the Bible, not in as many words, maybe because the people that wrote the Bible did not even know that hydrogen and carbon exist.
This is the wicked bit, me an avowed atheist, showing you something from the Bible, this is in the King James version, it says this:
--------
24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
--------
That line at the beginning should say something loud and clear, 'Let the Earth bring forth', what do those words mean, not that God himself sat down and created all the animals, not that God waved a hand and they all suddenly popped out of nowhere, not that God actually did any of the work.
It says, 'Let the Earth'. So, at least in this version of the Bible God asked, commanded, or simply let the Earth produce the animals, and there is not even a time period for it to complete that task.
You know what that means?
Science says that life came from chemicals that were already in the Earth, and that is what your Bible says, and God said 'Let the Earth bring forth'. So according to the Bible, God let the Earth bring forth the animals, so I cannot see why people that follow religion claim that the Bible says something different, it says what the scientists are saying, and to be honest, it does not disagree with evolution either, as once your God allows the Earth to bring forth animals he does not ever command it to stop.
You know, sometimes things are stranger than you think, I thought that in the Bible God himself had sat down and made every single animal, but no, he let the Earth do it.
Does that change anything for me, will it change my wild atheistic ways, well, no, it will not,l but it does mean that I now know that even Christians do not know their Bible as well as I know my sciences, at least the chemistry and the physics.
Oh well, time to hop off for a nice cup of tea and piece of home made cake, pineapple cake, I created it in my oven!
Later, hun, and don't forget to do the dishes.
Oh the link to the Bible site I got the KJV from

Most atheists don't really think about that sort of thing. Obsessing over something that cannot be known seems sort of pointless to me. And really none of that really has ever promoted me nor put a meal on the table. And no, religion does not seem "absurd" to me. While it is meaningless to me, I know it is not meaningless to others. Ultimate reality is subjective and what is "real" to someone, may not be "real" to another at all.

So are many proven aspects of reality.
For example Einstein long since showed with his Theory of Relativity that no two events which happen in different points in space can happen at the same time, since simultaneity depends entirely on one's frame of reference. You might think that's absurd, in fact everyone thinks that's patently absurd including me, but it's true. So I hope you can accept nature as she is, absurd.
Reality is stranger than fiction.

Well, you believe that this "inanimate matter" arranged itself into a "god". Is it really that much of a stretch... "sweetie"?

Insanity is the belief.

Olga: Do you really believe that most Christians don't accept evolution and the big bang theory?
Most do.

Given the size of the universe and the amount of forces at work..... Oh something about infinite monkeys (((((((olgs))))))))
EDIT - does it take an infinite amount of monkeys, or a finite amount?
;-)

EDIT - then he clearly isn't using enough monkeys!

Really.
<mutters> It could be your southern drawl or might be my near-dead hearing aid batteries....did you say "delicious" or "ubiquitous"?
