Am i almost done with my braces?
So i got them on 13 months ago. Originally they told me i'd have them for 2-3 years, but for the past year they've been saying how i'm just moving right along and what not. But right now my teeth are perfectly straight, and for the past 2/3 months my ortho has been continually saying that i'll be getting them off early. I had rubber bands on for 6 weeks and a power chain on my top & bottom. He took off the top power chain and i dont have to wear the rubber bands off. And i'm getting them refixed or what in 2 weeks because he said that'll help me finish up quickly..
Hahah so any idea how long i might have to keep them on? Thanks
A month? I've only had them on for just over a year and they originally said 2-3.. plus i'm getting them like redone, or refixed

Only your orthodontist can answer this question -- maybe next time ask for a more specific answer other than "early". Ask for approximately how many more months it will take.
Keep in mind that the major movements in your orthodontic treatment occur early, so it looks like you've had a dramatic change and are ready to get your braces off soon. However, this is usually not the case since there is often a lot of "fine tuning" that takes a fair bit of time to get your teeth perfect.
To me it sounds like your next appointment will be your repositioning appointment which is actually just over halfway through your treatment. Orthodontists are generally good at judging how long it will take to get your treatment. When they say you'll get your braces off early, that usually means that it's because they expect you to finish at close to 2 years instead of close to 3 years (since they estimated 2-3 year treatment time).
The best thing you can do is to follow your orthodontist's instructions exactly, avoid any hard foods that will break off brackets, and keep your teeth really clean... that way you can be sure that you're doing everything you can to get your braces off as soon as possible.

I would say about a month or so. Sometimes when your teeth are perfectly straight, they have to keep them on a tad bit longer so they don't shift back to their original spot. After they are refixed in 2 weeks he will most likely leave you that way for a few more weeks, (making it a month long). If they say that your getting them off early, it doesn't necessarily mean soon. Maybe a month or two, you can't exactly tell, but since you have already had your rubber bands used, then that's a sign of the final area of the process.
Source(s): I currently have braces with bands used too, and my orthodontist has been saying about the same thing. Hang in there! they will be gone before you know it!(:
