Please, help explain this Rational Expression...?

Kevin can mow his father's lawn in 8 hours. His brother Doug can mow it in just 4 hours. How long will it take both of them to mow the lawn if they do it together?

I know the answer but I won't give it to ensure your steps match the answer.

    Looks like x/4+x/8=1

    Solved for x=8/3=2.666 h.
