What is a compassionate conservative?

Update:

I don't really want to answer questions here, I'm doing the asking. But I'll share the thought that jumps to mind and leave it there, uncontemplated.

a "compassionate liberal" is probably a redundancy

liberals for many years don't lack compassion, they lack guts. Liberals are wimps.

Update 2:

Giving to someone who says they are a charity doesnt necessarily mean you are helping people. It depends what charity you are giving to. Many give without oversight. Where does it go? I don't know if that's compassion, living in philanthropic moderation, or just ego-digging gullibility.

The term is used, more or less, to balance, temper, the image of a rock-hard fiscal-tightwad electable official. George W. Bush, I think, used it to some effect. He was elected twice. It means what it appears to mean, a firm political position modified by sympathy for others distress and a willingness to do something about it.

I have compassion for the working poor and abused/neglected dogs. That is why I donate to charities in my community (MIFA and the Church Health Center) that help poor people who work for a living and I rescue, rehome dogs.

Did you know statistics show that liberals give significantly less to charity than conservatives do? See, we believe in helping people with our money instead of other people's.

    Something like Big Foot.

People claim it might exist, but no one has actually seen one. Pure folklore.

Compassionate conservatism is like prison rape with KY jelly.
