In the state of Ms how is required to file taxes. I've made almost 5,000. And I'm still technically 17

if you had income tax withheld, box #2 on the W-2 you would want to file to get that refunded
for Ms you will have to see what your standard allowance is to see if your $5000 is taxable to that state
if there was income tax withheld for Ms. it is possible it also would be refunded--your state web site should have information about your deductions that are allowed

If you are a dependent, you don't need to file unless you earned more than $5800. However, if your employer withheld anything for federal taxes, filing a return is the only way you will get that money back again.
Your age has nothing to do with it.
