You should let her make a Facebook. She can connect with her friends better, but you should limit how many hours she goes online. Facebook is very addicting and her face might be glued to the screen 24/7. I suggest 30 minutes - one hour after homework and before dinner on school days.

So she's been asking you since she's 7? That's ridiculous to me. For the most part a Facebook wouldn't be good for a child that young, there are creepy people on there and people can also start drama and be rude. I'm also not even sure if you're supposed to be able to make a Facebook at that age according to their policies. If you do choose to let her get one make sure to monitor her every time she's on there and make sure she has maximum security settings and doesn't add anyone that she doesn't know personally. If any kind of problems come from her having a Facebook, delete it immediately.

I would not do it. Although her classmates may have one facebook can lead to some issues. It is good for some things like networking but I think 11 is too young. It becomes addicting. Along with issues of possible cyber bullying. I wouldn't let my kid.

I believe you have an "easy out" here if you want to take this route. I believe that you must be 13 years old for a facebook account. If that hasn't changed lately, then that could be your answer.

11 is a little too young. I would hold out as long as you can.

Kids have to be 13 anyway to sign up.

A computer with internet isn't safe for an 11 year old kid. If you decide to get her one, you'd better wise up and babysit her while she's online period.

i think 13 is too young, but at least it's legal

it's illegal for an 11 year old to have one due to COPPA

think of it like this... by letting your 11 year old use facebook, you are teaching her that it's ok to break the law if you dont like the law
