the area of a triangle is given by bh/2 where b=base, h=height, where b and h can just be any two sides of the triangle, basically imagine you had 2 identical triangles, putting them together so rotationally symettrical will always yield either a square, rectangle or paralellogram - the areas of all of which is given by bh (the two non-touching sides). So the triangle is half of that.
Sooooo... take any two of those number, multiply them together, divide answer by 2, and there's your answer.

formula is sqrt(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c))
where s=a+b+c and a,b and c are the three sides of the triangle
