I had surgery once and the doctors had a hard job to be sure! However all they needed to do was follow the path of the bullet's and repair the damage. The anesthetist on the other hand had to block the pain but could not put me out in my weakened state. If i went out i would not awake. Not Good! Once he figured that out he had to figure out how to paralyze me so i would not twitch and jump around during surgery. Also not good. How weird do you think that was? Having surgery while awake. I could hear the doctors and nurses talking. And feel what they were doing but no pain. So yes! No matter how good the doctors they cant do their job with out the anesthetist! I would say at least as clever!

Anaesthetists are doctors who have a specialty. So they have more schooling than a GP and a similar amount to or more than other medical specialties.
