Good God! What on Earth was Mossberg thinking?!?!?

A ''tacticool' style lever action .30-30. Now Mossberg has had some stupid ideas but seriously?

Anybody agree?

I will guarantee that some kid out there is thinking that's the coolest rifle on the planet and is bugging mommy and daddy to buy it for him. Mossberg needs to put the crack pipe down and stop with the stupidity before they lose the respect of the real firearms community, the same community that has kept them in business for decades.

I guess some policeman somewhere thought this was a good idea. I suppose, in certain circumstances, there might be a use for a .30-30 levergun in a tactical situation. For the life of me, I can't imagine one, though.

For all intents and purposes, though, I see this about like I see the Hornady Z-Max ammo. It's playing with a trend; it will end up as a toy for a handful of shooters, then it will pass away and be a footnote.

Or, it's entirely possible that it will help resurrect the .30-30 to a lot of shooters who otherwise would never have considered owning one. Not all that likely, but possible.

I totally agree! The company needs to put more effort into customer service and forget the " toys "! I have been waiting now for 2 weeks for parts to my 100 ATR, and when I called I was told that " Oh, parts don't usually ship in less than 4-5 weeks "! WTF? There isn't even an online site for purchasing parts! IMHO, Mossberg has dropped the ball in the last few years! I have quite a few Mossberg guns, and this " new " customer service policy is extremely disappointing! :(

I'm with August here and immediately was reminded of the Zmax ammo when seeing this. Sure it may appeal to a small segment of the population, but the rest of us just shake our heads and wonder if the douchebag market has really grown enough to be specifically catered to by so many major manufacturers.

    LIghten up, folks.

If it doesn't sell, it will be discontinued very quickly, at which point you might want to buy one because in the future it will be a scarce collector's item. If it sells, then someone at Mossberg is a genius.

The Mossberg is not my taste, but that's not unusual. I think revolvers in rifle calibers such as .45-70 are silly, but I do enjoy watching OTHER PEOPLE shoot them. To me it looks like more pain than fun, but if that's what makes you happy and you aren't hurting anyone else, I say go for it. On the flip side, some people on this forum have been pretty scornful of the high-end smallbore target rifles such as the Anschutz, which I shot for years in collegiate and NRA competition. They are entitled to an opinion, which I am free to ignore.

The more people who find things to enjoy in the shooting sports, the better for all of us. Why discourage anyone just because his taste is not your taste?

    Wow. Just wow.

I normally have some sort of smartass or witty comment, but I'm at a loss at the moment

Where have you been all your life? Are you not familiar with the term 'fad'? My Dad said in about 1955 that he could glue a horse turd on his car hood for an ornament and every kid in the neighborhood would have one in less that two weeks.

Apparently thinking they need to cash in on this abominable trend while it lasts. They're obviously not concerned with maintaining any sort of long term credibility.

    hahaha oh mossberg.

that gun is pretty..well lets just say unique and some people like to have a unique gun. like me for instance.

just a remake of an old cowboy gun.

i asked a question once, and a man said "some things are better left in the past"

well lever action rifles are one of those things.
