Metal Fans: Thoughts on this song?
Its been at least two weeks since i mentioned Dan Swano, but I picked this EP up lately...surprisingly cheap considering it has been out of print for ages. I love the heavy tone of the guitars and Swanos voice is great as usual

You posting a question featuring something by Dan Swano? What is this nonsense? It's just so out of the ordinary, so unlike you! lol
The song sounds incredible... to be honest, it reminds me a lot of The Tea Party, just maybe with heavier guitars, which is a good thing in my books. Swano really is an incredible musician, it's a shame he's not as well recognized as he ought to be.
MQ2: A few bands I've recently come across that are absolutely amazing IMO:

MQ1: I like it! Not bad, Mr. Swanö does have a pretty great voice.
MQ2: I do! You've probably heard of these guys before but I've recently discovered this band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxTfktXzPkc

Hey there buddy.
Never heard them before, but then again the only non Edge of Sanity Dan Swano stuff I've ever heard is through you, so that's not much of a surprise. I do like the guitar tone, albeit a bit standard. The riffs are fine, kind of heavy but not the heaviest. When I heard the intro riff I was expecting vocals to be at least a little harsh, but they're completely clean which, to be honest, just sounds a bit weird. The vibe of the track really reminds me Intense's Anubis, which I had uploaded on Youtube but my account got suspended and stuff and no one else uploaded it yet so I can't post the link.
Nevertheless, the track is definitely decent.
MA2: Mainly been listening to video game soundtracks as of late. Here's one track I think is real fun

Dan Swanö is the man.
I especially love his work with Opeth (You know me and my Opeth fanboy attitude)
MQ: I absolutely love it, where the HELL did you find the EP? I have heard of the band before and listened to them before, but I have never been able to find a hard copy of their music (I'm a hard-copy album kind of guy, I like seeing all me records >.<)
MQ2: Well, not discovered, but I have been listening to a LOT of Dark Angel and some Death Angel lately. Weird that both bands have the same initials and word, but that's merely coincidental.

Dark Angel - "The Burning of Sodom"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BH8nfDIOkFk
Death Angel - "The Ultra Violence" <-One of the best songs ever made.
EDIT: @Tron: You should check out Pyramaze's album "Immortal" featuring Matt Barlow of Iced Earth on lead vocals. Speaking of Matt Barlow, he needs to stop quitting bands and make more albums for me to drool over.

This very interesting tron. Obviously the highlight is the Egyptian like riffs and melodies coupled with Swano's ethereal vocals. I completely disagree about expecting harsh vocals here, the crisp clear vocals elevate the Prog to a new level.
What I noticed about Swano's singing is that it follows in a very non conventional set of hooks, it sound totally off. Here though, the vocals and hooks hit straight home, just like I'd sing it. The drumming I'm not too enamoured with (it's great!! just not crazy omagawd) but he's a VERY talented singer. What he pulls off is amazing, has a very orgasmic substance in his voice.
Now, I'm a sacker for melodies + aggressive rhythm work. Without some Prog elements or melody it can't keep my interest for very long (which is why I'm not crazy over Stockholm Death metal).
Kenth does a good job with the keyboards in the bridge, which pours fresh air to the song, only to be ignited with almost FRIGHTENING hooks (i was like an 80's ballad?!?! O_O). The keyboards accentuate the melodies *even* more and the relative absence of bass gives the entire thing an airy feel, like you're floating on them clouds. Indeed an epic Oddysey across hook brimming Prog goodness.
The plethoric display of melody is balanced off by the Rhythm which is what driving the song forward, NOT the drums. The drums accentuate but don't lead which is great here. The only issue is how are they gonna pull the climax off? The song opts to end abruptly rather, which is a bit not satisfying but still great.
The song? Excellent. Enough to inspire me to go haunt their other full length release and some more of Swano. Indeed, a man of multi talents which keeps surprising yet again. It's very weird for me to compare it right now, but I really like what I'm hearing so far.
MA2: Ehh.... no just have been a bit obsessive with Alex Skolnick lately ~

MA: I'm usually not into technical stuff because it painfully bores my ears, but that song is great! Great drumming, riffs, vocals and lyrics.
