Do you think it's awkward to meet with a former professor for coffee?
He was my biology professor two years ago, and I did an honors project for him. Anyways, I was being silly and added him on Facebook and he seemed really happy to hear from me and invited me for coffee to discuss a project he's working on. I'm not the most social person ever, so I'm scared it's be kinda awkward. How would you feel?

You obviously like him because you added him on facebook and he respects you for your intelligence to want to discuss his project with you. You are both adults so why should it be awkward. You never know, but you may get a biology lesson that you never forget

I guess you should not have been silly. He may really be happy to hear from you and would like to talk about a project but if your gut feeling says, NO, then follow your feelings. Most of us do not do that which we should. Tell him that it would be best that he kept in touch on facebook and keep telling you about his project there also because it is easier for you.

Meet him for a coffee then go back to talking on Facebook. He may genuinely just want to see you again and one meeting will do. Anyway, after you have met him, you will find out if he has another "agenda".

Aww that's nice! He felt happy it means he liked you (I mean he thinks you are a nice person) when you were his student. And he invited you to a coffee, not dinner, not a nightculb, a coffee seems a very nice place to talk and to feel comfortable. Go and enjoy it!=)
