Was the Jeremy Guthrie for Jason Hammel and Matt Lindstrom trade a good move for the Orioles and how?

It's good for the O's in so far as they get SOMETHING for Gutherie, rather than losing him to free agency at year's end. That's a fairly thin silver lining in the dark cloud of this deal.

Frankly, I think that they could have acquired much more had they dealt him earlier in the offseason... or waited until mid-season to deal him to a desperate contender.

Yes, but only because Lindstrom was thrown in there. Hammel has proven to be useful for long relief and that's about it.

yes because the O's received younger arms than a struggling Guthrie, who has been struggling since he left Cleveland.

  • Yes, they get good bullpen help, that is well needed.
