My floor is flooded with water. Help!!!?

Hi. All the sudden I come home and find a huge puddle of water on the floor. It's clear: no mud or anything. Just plain water. Perfectly clear. So there's about 1/4 of water and it's spreading so I start taking it out with a broom. Then I wait about 10 min and all of it is back (more water). I live on the first floor in an apartment where there are no plumbing problems, as the landlord had said. It's now been 24 hours and I drive the water out every 6 hours. I bought kitty litter to absorb it which is working but only for a while. Then the water overflows from the litter and create puddles.

1. Where is this water coming from?

2. How do I get rid of it? It's all over my floor!

3. How do I fix this problem?

4. Is this because of rain? Are there pipes under floors that need to prevent this from happening and they didn't this time?

Thank you!

Update:

Nothing is overflowing. Everything is fine. The water just misteriously crawls from beneath the floors by itself in two places (where the kitty litter got wet first). Are these pipe leaks down below?

Sounds like you might have a burst pipe under the flooring. Check your walls - are they wet? It could be that a pipe has burst behind the wall, saturated the floor and then flooded.

Turn off your Water Supply at the mains. Clean up the area. You'll need to find out if you have a burst pipe and a plumber would be your best bet.

are u extremely sure u have no plumbing problems? it could be there is some broken pipe somewhere and the pipe is leaking

try and identify the source of the water. 1st dry the floor completely then keep a very close watch and find out from which point all the water comes out of. all this water has to come from somewhere. when u know from where then u can think how to stop it

Is your toilet, sink, bath tub overflowing. Can you identify what place in your apartment where the water is entering. Have you called the landlord and made him aware about the problem. At this time this is about all you can do except to try and get all your valuables up off the floor so they don't get wet. Good luck

First and the cheapest is to replace the wax ring under the the toilet. Then if after that fails, then I would do as Mark suggested or remove the clean out plug in the yard, there should be NO standing water in the clean out. You may have to get a flash light to see down there.
