I really want to go hunting but my mom won't let me?

Does this sound like a persuasive enough "thing" that makes me sound mature?

"123-4567 this is the number you call to register me for the hunter saftey course and this is the last you will hear of it from me because if you really don't want me to go hunting I will respect that and I'm sure you have your reasons.

P.S. The the instructor's name is **** **********

P.P.S If saftey is an issue the chances of getting injured while hunting is about 0.05 and chance of getting killed while hunt is 0.002 so this means.... 3 times more likely to be injured walking up and down stairs

11 times more likely to be injured playing volleyball

19 times more likely to be injured snowboarding

25 times more likely to be injured cheerleading or bicycle riding

34 times more likely to be injured playing soccer or skateboarding

105 more times likely to be injured playing tackle football."

Is there anything you would add

I don't know how these liberals got here... I bet they're the idiots who claim hunting is cruel but eat meat from the grocery store that was raised in horrible conditions instead of game animals that are taken quickly, cleanly, and often painlessly. Beef cattle on the other hand are often killed by being hung upside down by the legs and being shocked to knock them out then have the jugular cut. That being said, hunting is not something you should take lightly as it is a great responsibility and even with the statistics you have cited, can be dangerous if you are not careful. Don't try to prove your mom wrong, no one likes to be told that and it won't get you anywhere. Talk to your friends and family, ask if anyone they know hunts. Ask to meet them and talk to them. Your best bet for convincing your mom is having a responsible adult (ideally one that she knows personally) offer to teach you about hunting. Hopefully this will be enough to convince her and you can soon be on your way to a freezer full of cheap, tasty meat. Not to mention the added advantage of being able to sustain yourself if you ever had to.

Atheist1965: You seem to be missing a major point of hunting: population control. Do you know anyone who's ever hit a deer? I know people that have been killed from hitting deer with their cars in areas where no one hunted. The deer become docile and no longer fear humans which can be a nuisance and a danger. If, for some reason, you still feel that animals are equal to people, think of it this way: There are only a certain amount of resources to go around for deer and such. In areas that aren't hunted, the majority of deaths of deer or other game animals come not from old age, but from starvation or dehydration due to overpopulation. If you truly care about animals, would you rather see them starve and die slowly and painfully or be cleanly killed nearly instantly and provide nutrition for somebody. We aren't as far apart as you think when it comes to valuing animals, but misinformation by media and politicians can often demonize hunting to people like you. I hope that you'll take an objective look at the practice and make an informed decision accordingly.

Hunters usually go through detailed safety courses before getting a license to hunt, and are very safety oriented.

most people have a misconception about guns that just because you have that you will get injured or killed. take a gu8n safety course with your mom, so she can see how responsible gun owners and hunters are.

as for the tree huggers out there, I respect your views, but you eat your veggies, and let us eat our meat.

Atheist1, people do die in football. And other sports. How do you think the natives survived? By hunting and gathering. It's not a sin. The natives didn't just survive off of berries and vegetables. There's not enough protein in those things. Its logic.

Tell your mom you want to confront challenges ,instead of hiding from them like she does. You'll never learn anything if you dont take the risk.

    What would I add?

Don't go hunting - do what your mum says- respect life and other organisms who have as much right to live as do you - they are families too with young children - why would you wish to kill them?

Would you like it if someone killed one of your family members?

    Volleyball - nothing gets killed.

    Snowboarding - nothing gets killed.

    Cheerleading/bicycles - nothing gets killed.

Playing soccer/skateboarding - nothing gets killed.

Tackle Football - nothing gets killed.

Hunting - Innocent creatures get killed.

I'd say you were looking at the wrong statistics.
