Whirlpool Gas Dryer not continually heating throughout cycle?
Our dryer kicks on, spins and heats up, but does not continually heat throughout the cycle. Most of the time it takes 3 cycles to get the clothes dried. The vent is clear. Any clue as to which part I need to replace or test?

The gas burner isn't suppose to heat throughout the drying cycle. The burner cycles on and off during the drying cycle as a high temperature is reached that is detected by a thermostat located in the blower housing. You can remove the lower front panel on your drier and observe the igniter operating and see if the burner ignites. Here is a site with the sequence of operation. http://www.dryerrepairhelp.com/how-gas-dryers-work... Another site that might help. http://fixitnow.com/wp/2004/11/30/appliance-repair... Good Luck

Are you sure the vent is clear all the way to the outside of the house? Undo the vent hose on the wall side and make sure the vent hose is nice and straight with no restrictions... With the hose still disconnected run a load in the dryer and this will completley eliminate any vent issues. I bet it'll dry just fine with the hose unhooked and straight. Then you'll need to clean out the vent pipe going to the outside of the house.
