Should I get a girl something for Valentine's Day that I'm going to ask out on Valentine's Day?

A few weeks ago, I found out my best friend (that is a girl) likes me and I like her back. We got closer than we ever were in the past few weeks, and we went to see a movie last night with some friends. She let me put my arm around her...by the end of the movie we were holding both hands and were really close...we left the theater holding hands...all our texts have hearts in them, etc. Should I get her a gift on Valentine's Day if I'm planning to ask her out that day? I was thinking that if I made her a really nice card that explains to her my true feelings for her and has a collage of pictures of me and her in it and asked her out with it, that would be good, but I don't know if she would be insulted that she didn't get anything cause we are now (almost) going out. What do I do? Just give her the card and ask her out, or get something too (I'm not even sure what I'd get her.)

Thanks for answering, because I'm kind of a rookie at this whole "relationships" thing.

I would just get her a little box of chocolate to go along with the card. Girls love chocolate and that's our favorite thing about valentine's day :) Mrs. Field's has little boxes for around $3 and they're really good!
