What is the first religion?

We can only guess, but some archaeologists have noted what appear to be the indications of respectful burials among Neanderthals, thousands of years ago. This suggests some possible notion that even then, people were thinking about an existence beyond their everyday experience. From that, we might suppose, the religious ideas of early civilizations might have arisen. Judaism, while an old religion , is by no means the oldest, in as much as scripture itself refers to other belief systems, gods, etc. Christianity is a relative newcomer on the scene.

As a group of molecules seeking cohesion with other molecules we must adhere religiously in the least for any kind of coagulation even starts. And since we are reacting to causes more complex such as forces of an atomic nature you can imagine the religious part of the cohesion had to be particularly powerful enough to draw in sub particles to even begin to form and then hope for a spark that will incept life as we now know it. All this had to happen even before we became genetic material. Religion is natures way of inserting itself into the form it now knows itself to be for intelligent activity. And that goes into a whole new world of complex meanings. What in the end was not the first religion?
