Do women who read Cosmo, Vogue, Teen, People, and Seventeen take it seriously?

These magazines are basically filled with fashion tips, gossip, advice on how to satisfy a man, and ridiculous beauty tips. There isn't anything actually worth learning. If a woman wants to know how to please a man, she should ask a man! Most of the writers of those magazines are women, not men.

I want to know if the women who read it actually take it seriously or do they read it for laughs?

There are much more interesting magazines out there which are worth spending money on: Foreign Policy, The New Yorker, Womens' Health, The Atlantic, and the Economist.

I welcome everyone's opinions but I woud like to hear from women who read these magazines.

Update:

Marian, I know there are personal preferences when it comes to magazines and everything else. But in my experience, I found women who are into fashion and reading things like Cosmo to be very one-dimensional. I really hope not all are like that but I've yet to find one.

I read them occasionally but just for giggles mostly. Sometimes I find useful hair tips and such but definitely not a source of serious entertainment for me. My friend however lives her life by them. Its sort of like how my husband and I watch Jersey shore on occasion to laugh in disbelief that such ridiculous people exist and are now rich and famous, but my friend thinks its the best show ever and cried when vinny left the show for like one episode. Different strokes for people of different IQ's lol

I like Seventeen and Cosmo Girl the best. They have more tips and articles than Teen Vogue. I still buy Teen Vogue sometimes though. I would get the subscription for 10 issues each of Seventeen and Cosmo Girl I love reading magazines:)

I've met some who do. They are mostly targeted to young women and girls who don't know better yet. They say if you're 17, you're too old to read Seventeen. I personally buy Vogue sometimes to get ideas for clothing to make for myself. However, saying that political magazines (or Women's Health, which is just as much of a giant advertizement directed at women as Cosmo) are superior in a way kind of dismisses women who read fashion magazines and their concerns and interests. A big problem with society is that women who are interested in "women's things" like fashion are dismissed as shallow, when many women have multiple facets to their personalities. Also, The New Yorker is mostly just pretentious drivel.

Unfortunately, yes. I've dated several women who absolutely insisted on the most ridiculous things because they read it in Cosmo.

The point of such magazines isn't to educate. The point is to sell magazines.

Never ever.. Although I think some women/ girls truly do, and it saddens me. Sometimes the cosmo advice articles can be somewhat informative I find most of it to be balogna.

Those women have their male counter part as those who read Muscle Mag, sport mag & sport car mag, I presume...and they are almost as dumb...
