Jehovah’s Witnesses – How can you explain this evidence that Jesus is God?
Jehovah’s Witnesses – How can you explain this evidence that Jesus is God?
Please read the following verses along in your Bible or your New World Translation Bible.
1.Read Revelation 1:8; "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."
Who is the Alpha and the Omega? Obviously, that is Jehovah God right?
2.Read Revelation 21:6-7; "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End....and I will be his God."
Who is the 'Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega? That is Jehovah God again right?
3.Read from Revelation 22:12-13; "Behold, I am coming soon!...I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."
Who is the First and Last? – Of course it has to be Jehovah God; we have already established that He is the Alpha/Omega and Beginning/End. (Another place in the bible where God refers to himself as the First and the Last is Isaiah 44:6 “This is what the LORD says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty. I am the first and I am the Last; apart from me there is no God.”)
4. Finally, turn back and read Revelation 1:17-18; "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, I am the Living One; I WAS DEAD, AND BEHOLD I AM ALIVE FOR EVER AND EVER!”
Ask yourself honestly – WHEN did Jehovah God die?
He didn’t! Jesus Christ died for our sins and is ALIVE for ever and ever! Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End!
Lots of responses, but no answers and really not attempts to answer the actual question...just a bunch of words to try to confuse. Please answer the question. Why would God, the First and Last, say he "was dead"?
No honest response from JW?
@hadenough – Not that I should have to explain myself, but this was not an attack and there is no prejudice. The only reason I called Jehovah’s Witnesses for this question is because most of the places in the Bible that provide evidence for the Trinity have been edited out in their New World Translation. However this is one evidence that was missed.
I’m simply providing a resource to those considering joining. A large percent of their recruits are un-educated luke warm Christians who can be misled. I believe I have the right to provide my beliefs to those who would find my question by searching for it, the same way Jehovah’s Witnesses have the right to spread their beliefs directly by knocking on doors. This question is certainly not an “attack”. I suppose you wouldn’t call knocking on my door and telling me that my religion is wrong and there’s is right an attack? I actually personally wouldn’t, but with your line of thought, you would/should and a more direct attack at that
My question was specific because it specifically had to do with the book the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ use. No other reason. This was not meant to open up the overall debate on the trinity, so stop hijacking questions that you have no answers for and ask your own question if you would like to discuss something different.
@Ginosko92 - Not sure you really read the question. Your analogy was un- thoughtful at best. If they had called Solomon the “First and Last” than you might have a point. My point is that the title “First and Last” is reserved for God. If you believe Jesus was created, then He at best could be called “second”. They wouldn’t use “First and Last” for 2 persons because obviously there can only be one “First”. However, I don’t think anyone is arguing that you can have more than one king.

Did you know that we ourselves are a Trinity. We have a Body, Spirit and Soul but we are ONE. The Body is Distinct from The Spirit and The Body is Distinct from the Soul and The Spirit is Distinct from the Body and the Spirit is Distinct from the Soul and the Soul is Distinct from the Body and the Soul is Distinct from the Spirit, so as you can see we ourselves are a Trinity. we ourselves are 3 in ONE Interesting huh
The Trinity is ONE God and God is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and The Father is Distinct from the Son and the Father is Distinct from the Holy Spirit and the Son is Distinct from the Father and the Son is Distinct from Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is Distinct from the Father and the Holy Spirit is Distinct from the Son But all are the ONE GOD
The Trinity is ONE God in three persons. God manifested himself as 3 persons. God is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Trinue nature of God is seen through out scripture such as Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness,
US and OUR is plural meaning more then one person

Colossians 2:9 NIV
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,
Does it say lesser or least ? NO it says all the fullness. Jesus is fully God
God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ
2 Corinithians 5:19 NIV
that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

The Father even said to the Son your throne O God.
The Father called the Son God
Hebrews 1:8 NIV
But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.
firstborn can mean firstborn into a family and it can also mean a title of high rank.
David who was the last one born in his family in ( 1 Chronicles 2:13-15 )
was called firstborn by God in ( Psalm 89:20,27)
Firstborn in Colossians 1:15 and Hebrews 1:6 is a title of high rank.
It does NOT say firstcreation in either of these two verses.
Jesus said I and the Father are One
John 10:30 NIV
I and the Father are one."
God is our Only Savior
Isaiah 43:10-11 NIV
You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. 11 I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.
Jesus is Savior

And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God."
As you can see the Bible teaches there is ONE God and that God is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit but is One God.
The Trinity is True
God is a trinity
Three Persons in ONE God
God is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Jesus said those that has seen me has seen the father. see John 14:9
Jesus also said I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. see John 14:10
Jesus also said Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. see John 14:11
John 14:9-11 NIV
Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.

I read the question as to JW "How can you explain this evidence that Jesus is God?" Using your own bible
That is how you posted it.
So now you are saying on your add on comment something else as the main point-their bible.
Why do some bibles add what shouldn't be there to support a Trinity or other issues? In case you are not aware many do. Also add words like Easter some even say Job was celebrating his birthday.
Many add and subtract things claiming it helps people understand that has been going on for ages. For ages.....In many dominations
Are you going to point all of them out? Why didn't you? You didn't know?
I have never know them to say don't use your own bible. Many of them do use other bibles.
That was an attack on them despite your protest and playing innocence now. And did show prejudice on your part.
Regardless, you are missing many scriptures that support ONE ALMIGHTY GOD AND ONE LORD AND SON and they made the distinction quite clear.
And Jesus didn't correct those who called him the son of the most high the Father
Nor did he make claims to be the Father only the one sent by the Father
Your question didn't prove your point of their book verses others. You asked "How can you explain this evidence that Jesus is God?"
I think that has been answered by some of them and others, so your second part of "no attempts" made is also wrong.
Let me tell you many new Christians are uneducated people of the bible. And easily swayed often joining groups because they like someone, the preacher, the church is nicer or closer etc. Very few churches offer studies other than Sunday School and tell you to check ON YOUR OWN if what they teach is true. And I think many churches need to do that

Note: The term “Alpha” means the First. The term “Omega” means the Last.
Why would God, the First and the Last, say he was dead? The truth is God would not say he is dead because he has never died. Jesus died for us so that we may have the chance of being released from sin and live forever in the near future. However, this does not mean that Jesus is God.
Under inspiration from Jehovah did the apostle write the book of Revelation. In verse 17 John is relaying a vision in which Jesus comforts him in saying, “do not be fearful.” In verse 18 Jesus goes on to say, “I became dead, but look! I am living forever and ever.” We know that Jesus “became dead” by sacrificing himself for us so that we may have the chance of being released from sin and live forever in the near future. But, he tells us that he is still living! And that he is living forever! He is not living in a physical sense-where we could see about the earth, but, in a spiritual sense. Basically, Jesus is still alive in heaven today.
But, this does not mean that Jesus is God. As you stated yourself, Revelation 1:8 brings out that it was Jehovah himself who stated, “I am the Alpha and the Omega…the One who is and who was and who is coming, the Almighty.” Still, we have determined that Revelation 1:17 depicts Jesus as being “the First and the Last.” Think of it this way, the term and title “apostle” applies to several individuals throughout the entire Bible-including Jesus Christ. However, we know from scriptural and historical accounts that Jesus was the greatest apostle among all of them. We can see that the title itself does not prove that all of these individuals were the same person and it does not make them of the same rank (since Jesus is of a higher rank). The same applies to Jehovah God and Jesus. Just because the titles “Alpha and Omega” applies to Jehovah (based on Revelation 1:8) and Jesus (based on Revelation 1:17) it does not mean they are the same person and of the same rank. After all, it was Jehovah who sent Jesus to Earth in the first place (John 3:16). It was Jehovah who created the Earth and all things. Isaiah 45:18 says, “For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited: ‘I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.’” Clearly Jehovah God is of a higher rank!
I hope this answers your question. Also, I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses

***SIGH***
I can see that you've gotten plenty of responses that pretty much clarified the matter. Using titles and apply them as you like really doesn't help your case at all. By using your logic Jehovah and Solomon are the same person!
Isaiah 44:6 calls Jehovah "the King of Israel"
Prov 1:1 calls Solomon "King of Israel"
Is Solomon Jehovah!!??

God did not say he was dead. YOU misinterpret the scriptures as saying that God said he died because you fallaciously assume that Jesus is God based on the fact that he (Jesus) also carries the title "The First and the Last". Your own reasoning is in error.
Does the fact that both David and Jehovah are referred to as King, prove that David is God?
Does the fact that both David and Jehovah are given the title Lord, prove that David is God?
Does the fact that both the angels and God are said to be spirit, prove that the angles are God?
One can only answer yes to the above questions by applying the fallacious logic that two entities described using some of the same terms must be the same.
Likewise, pointing to the fact that the expression "The First and the Last" is used of both Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ, as evidence that Jesus is God, is fallacious logic.
The question you asked: "WHEN did Jehovah God die?" is evidence that, while also having the title "the First and the Last", Jesus cannot be God since Jesus died and God CANNOT die. (Habakkuk 1:12)
It makes perfect sense that Jesus, as the Son and IMAGE of God, and empowered by God to act on behalf of God to execute God's purposes, would carry some of the same titles and roles that God carries. (2Corinthians 4:4; Acts 17:31; 2Corinthians 1:20) This is only to be expected and is not so unusual as to warrant the illogical assumption that Jesus is God -- especially in light of the fact that numerous scriptures make it plain that Jesus is NOT God --> (John 14:28; John 17:3; 1Corinthians 8:6; 1Corinthians 11:3; 1Corinthians 15:24-28; 1Timothy 2:5)

the best reply I see is this is an endless debate using scriptures alone as both sides those who believe in the Trinity and those who don't can show scriptures for their opinions and each can be argued.
I agree also why the attack on just some? And what does it matter, do you think the thief on the cross knew about the Trinity?
The Apostles called him the Son.Remember the confession of Peter -- "Thou art the Christ, the son of the living God;" -- and with this Jesus was satisfied. Remember the confession of Martha a follower -- I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God;" --and he required no more. Remember the reason which John gives for writing his Gospel; "These are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God." Who does John say is born of God? "Whoso believeth that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God." Who does he say overcomes the world? "He that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God.
It's endless indeed. And the attacks on some unnecessary
Would he and the other Apostles have so solemnly assured them and us that faith in him as the Son of God was sufficient, if in truth was we need to know more?

Wow I did a double take and then thought: no he is mistaken, but on reading further, I see you really are for real!!
You have been doing the error of reading misinterpretations of us because if you really think you know us, you would not even ask this question.
You are right, it is ridiculous to say that Jesus is God and that is because we don't believe that at all.
JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD AND WILL ALWAYS BE.
You do make a mistake though because Jesus is NOT the Alpha and Omega, that alone is Jehovah and you confuse the issue by contradicting yourself!
ps: I am sorry, but this is so tiring and like a broken record! You made made a big error, because I think you mean: JW, how can you explain the evidence that Jesus is the SON of God? Because the rest of your question is all about you believing he IS God and therefore the reason why you are ignoring what we are saying because you REFUSE to believe anything different and that is why this is a broken record! You know, you can go on and on and on saying that we are not being honest, but any genuine reader who comes on here, will immediately see the difference between our responses and yours, so I would be very careful how you slate one with just a few scriptures.

Good question. this just demonstrates why every religion as far as christianity goes believes in so many different things, and why they keep modifying what they believe. verses are too flexible, flexible enough to be able to make up anything about them. no wonder there is so much questioning. Hadenough has the best answer in my opinion.

The NWT has the Name of God back into their original places. So the Alpha and Omega is Jehovah, not Jesus. The Lord God is not Jesus Christ but Jehovah, who alone is the Most High. Ps 83:18
Jesus was the first and the last to die sinless. If Jesus Christ is God then he really didn't die and that would be a lie. BUT we all know that Jehovah God can not lie.
It is up to you to believe an answer but you choose not to which proves who your father is.

In Revelation 21:6, 7, God is speaking, not Jesus. Jesus says "I Jesus" in Revelation 22:16. This indicates a *change of speaker.* The same is the case in verse 8. Using your logic, John is also God in Revelation 1:8 because verse nine says "I John!!!"
Jesus is not God in Revelation 1:17. Jesus himself explains what the "First and the Last" means in verse 18.
Shared titles does not indicate that two individuals are the same. Otherwise, David and Solomon would also be God because they are called "King," as is God.
With everything said, your case for Jesus as God is weak.

The following excerpt explains it well:
"At Revelation 1:8, its owner is said to be God, the Almighty. In verse 11 according to KJ, that title is applied to one whose description thereafter shows him to be Jesus Christ. But scholars recognize the reference to Alpha and Omega in verse 11 to be spurious, and so it does not appear in RS, NE, JB, NAB, Dy. (2) Many translations of Revelation into Hebrew recognize that the one described in verse 8 is Jehovah, and so they restore the personal name of God there. See NW, 1984 Reference edition. (3) Revelation 21:6, 7 indicates that Christians who are spiritual conquerors are to be ‘sons’ of the one known as the Alpha and the Omega. That is never said of the relationship of spirit-anointed Christians to Jesus Christ. Jesus spoke of them as his ‘brothers.’ (Heb. 2:11; Matt. 12:50; 25:40) But those ‘brothers’ of Jesus are referred to as “sons of God.” (Gal. 3:26; 4:6) (4) At Revelation 22:12, TEV inserts the name Jesus, so the reference to Alpha and Omega in verse 13 is made to appear to apply to him. But the name Jesus does not appear there in Greek, and other translations do not include it. (5) At Revelation 22:13, the Alpha and Omega is also said to be “the first and the last,” which expression is applied to Jesus at Revelation 1:17, 18. Similarly, the expression “apostle” is applied both to Jesus Christ and to certain ones of his followers. But that does not prove that they are the same person or are of equal rank, does it? (Heb. 3:1) So the evidence points to the conclusion that the title “Alpha and Omega” applies to Almighty God, the Father, not to the Son."
