  • Why is my 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport not blowing Cold air?

I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport. It blows somewhat cool air, but not cold enough to cool it down and not nearly as cold as it used to. The air seems colder when the fan is on slower speeds like 1 or 2. Put it on 3 or 4 and it’s not as cold but does push more air. I had it checked and the Freon is charged. Any help is much appreciated.

  • how do you measure an interior door?

    Hi,

I'm looking to replace the door that goes from my garage to the utility room. When I measure the door, it is 31.5" X 79.5". What size do I need to buy? Do I measure the door or the opening?

Thanks for the help. I appreciate the advice.

  • How do I find all the possible remainders for the sum of 2 sets of numbers?

I’m working with remainders. How do I find all the possible remainders for the sum of 2 chance numbers 0-20 + 0-20 (for example) divided by a number (6 for example)?

So, to be more clear any number between 0-20 could be selected and then added to any number between 0-20 and then divided by 6. how would I find all the possible remainders?

  • Should I consider buying a house with foundation issues?

    Hi,

I’m looking at a house that we really love that backs up to a small lake. We had the inspection and he found small cracks around the interior and exterior walls and on the floors. He also found doors that won’t latch. We had foundation repair company come out today, and he said that the back half of the lot was new dirt which was causing it to sink back slightly. The house is about 7 years old. He of course wasn’t too concerned and said that 14 concrete piers for $5,000 would fix it.

If I proceed, I will be getting more estimates and an inspection from a licensed structural engineer, but before I do that, I’m wondering what your thoughts are on if buying a house with foundation issues is a risk, even if they are fixed according the a structural engineer.

Any thought on the subject from people that have experience are much appreciated.

    Thanks,

  • New Auto A/C unit not very cold?

I just got a new A/C compressor, dryer, orpheus tube (sp ?) and new coolant installed in my 2003 Jeep Liberty and it is cooling but not very well. The outside temp was 96 and it was blowing 76. Today it was in the 100s and the car never cooled down…although my other jeep liberty did alright today. It used to be much cooler. Any suggestions? Did they install something wrong?

    Thanks

  • Which attractions are worth stopping for while driving from New Orleans to Mobile Alabama?

I’m flying into New Orleans and driving to Mobile Alabama for a wedding. It looks like I’ll be near the beach for almost the entire drive so I was wondering if I should build in an extra day to play in the area. Is there by chance any good snorkeling on the way?

I’ve been to New Orleans, so I have an idea what’s there but I have not driven to Mobile. Are there any attractions that I shouldn’t miss on the way?

    Thanks for your input.

  • Jehovah’s Witnesses – How can you explain this evidence that Jesus is God?

Jehovah’s Witnesses – How can you explain this evidence that Jesus is God?

Please read the following verses along in your Bible or your New World Translation Bible.

1.Read Revelation 1:8; "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

Who is the Alpha and the Omega? Obviously, that is Jehovah God right?

2.Read Revelation 21:6-7; "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End....and I will be his God."

Who is the 'Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega? That is Jehovah God again right?

3.Read from Revelation 22:12-13; "Behold, I am coming soon!...I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."

Who is the First and Last? – Of course it has to be Jehovah God; we have already established that He is the Alpha/Omega and Beginning/End. (Another place in the bible where God refers to himself as the First and the Last is Isaiah 44:6 “This is what the LORD says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty. I am the first and I am the Last; apart from me there is no God.”)

    4. Finally, turn back and read Revelation 1:17-18; "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, I am the Living One; I WAS DEAD, AND BEHOLD I AM ALIVE FOR EVER AND EVER!”

Ask yourself honestly – WHEN did Jehovah God die?

He didn’t! Jesus Christ died for our sins and is ALIVE for ever and ever! Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End!

  • Mormons, Can you explain this “Prophesy” from Joseph Smith?

The bible gives up the following guidelines (and more) so we can test to see if a prophet is from God.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22, "And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously..."

Jeremiah 28:9, “But the prophet who prophesies peace will be recognized as one truly sent by the Lord only if his prediction comes true.”

Here is a Prophesy from Joseph Smith:

"And now I am prepared to say by the authority of Jesus Christ, that not many years shall pass away before the United States shall present such a scene of bloodshed as has not a parallel in the history of our nation; pestilence, hail, famine, and earthquake will sweep the wicked of this generation from off the face of the land”…”for there are those now living upon the earth whose eyes shall not be closed in death until they see all these things, which I have spoken, fulfilled.” (Source: Jan 4, 1833. HC 1:315-316)

This is a clear prophecy because he says “by the authority of Jesus Christ”. Obviously, this prophecy did not come to pass within the clear time limit that he gave (before everyone on earth at that time died).

A common response to this question is that Joseph Smith was referring to the Civil War. The problem with that answer is that war was not even mentioned in his prophesy. He specifically says that Pestilence (which is an epidemic outbreak of an infectious disease), hail, famine and earthquake will “sweep the wicked of this generation off the face of the land. “ I don’t think it is reasonable to jump from those disasters and say he was referring to the Civil War just because there was one.

And Yes, Pestilence, hail storms, and earthquakes did occur after the prediction (although there wasn’t really a large scale famine in the US that I can find), but nothing out of the usual and certainly nothing that could be considered to have swept the wicked of this generation off the face of the land.

For example, the 5 largest earthquakes we’ve had in the US were more than 100 years before or 100 years after the prediction. Source: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/states/10_l...

How are Mormons able to reconcile this prophesy and the clear guidelines in the bible for testing a prophet?

    Thanks for your answers.

  • Question for Evolutionists?

I’m doing my own research on evolution and heard a pretty decent argument that I wanted an evolutionist’s response to. The question was - how does evolution explain how we got the woodpecker?

Here are some characteristics of the woodpecker: It’s brain is “padded” to withstand the constant hammering on a tree, its beak it super strong to withstand the same…it’s feet are made perfect for grabbing the side of the tree with 2 toes in front and 2 in back compared to most birds which have 3 toes in front and 1 in back, it has strong tail feathers which are used to support it when it is on the tree. The Woodpeckers tongue goes as much as 10 inches out of his beak so he can get at bugs whereas most birds tongues don’t go past their beak. It has little barbs on his tongue that stabs the bugs to get them as well as glue like saliva that sticks to the bug.

Under what circumstances would the woodpecker have ever evolved to its current state? The interesting part to me is that the woodpecker really needs all of these characteristics to be effective at getting bugs out of trees.

I know it’s too much to ask, but sincere answers only please.

  • Are these Primary Differences between Mormons and traditional Christians accurate?

Mormons – Please tell me if this information is true and correct it WITH EVIDENCE if you say it is not. I’m trying to document the main points where traditional Christianity and Mormonism (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) differ. Through research, these are some of the main things that I believe Mormons believe that Christians don’t. I have provided Sources for each point.

Mormons, believe that God and his wife first existed as mortals on a different earth, overseen by a different god. This mortal couple died, received resurrected bodies, and eventually achieved godhood. They then procreated the millions of spirit children/people that are on this earth. Thus God is part of an eternal chain of gods populating different worlds. Mormons believe that they too can become a God.

Source: (History of the Church, vol. 6, p. 305)

Mormons believe that Jesus is the literal first born son of god.

They believe that we are all the sons and daughters of god because we were spirit babies created by god having a relationship with goddesses. To Mormons, what makes Jesus special is that he was the first born spirit child/person of god who rose to the status of godhood just as the Mormons believe they can do. Mormons believe that Jesus was the only son that was created (sent to earth) by god coming to earth in a physical body and physically getting Mary pregnant.

Source: (Improvement Era, vol. 19, pp. 941-942, June 30, 1916)

Mormons believe that men, gods, angels and devils are all the same species. Thus both Jesus and Lucifer are literally our elder brothers. Men are viewed as being the same species as God and Jesus and they have the same potential to achieve godhood.

Source: “Journal of Discourses, vol. 13, pp. 235-256, February 20, 1870”

As mentioned above Mormons believe that god literally sired Jesus in the same physical sense that any other man begets a child. Consequently "the virgin birth" is redefined for Mormons to mean Mary had a physical relationship with a god, not a mortal, in order to literally conceive the baby Jesus.

  • Why is my 2000 Oldsmobile Alero overheating?

I’ve been dealing with my car overheating for a while now. So far I have replaced the water pump, water reservoir, thermostat (twice because the symptoms matched so well) and head gaskets. Their did appear to be coolant in the oil.

After I had the gaskets fixed, it drove fine for about a week and then overheated. What it does now is gets to the red and then either overheats or eventually just suddenly cools down rapidly. Also, the heater stops working when it is overheating and then kicks back on when it cools down. Sometimes I’ve driven it to the mechanic about 20 miles away and it does fine, other times it heats up after about 5 miles.

He did mention that I had some spark plugs that needed to be replaced, but could that cause it to overheat and then cool back down – I didn’t think so.

Any educated suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • Why do I get a reoccurring pain in my eye every winter?

Every year for about the past 3 years at about this time I get a weird eye pain. Sometimes it’s in both, but mainly in one. On and off it gets really red, tears up and hurts like there is something in it…the pain lasts about 2-5 minutes and then goes away. Then comes again in about 20 -40 minutes. Last year it just lasted a couple of days, but the year before that it lasted about 4. I realized this time that it seems to always happen when it’s getting cold.

I tried to go to the doctor last year, but by the time they could get me in, it was already over for the year…

Any suggestions as to what it could be?

  • How much might someone pay to scrap my Chevy 1500 extended cab truck?

I have a 1991 Chevy 1500 4X4 extended Cab that the transmission went out on.

I’d like to sell it as is. Other than the transmission - it ran good but I know that’s not going to comfort anyone looking to buy.

Just to help me price it – what do you think someone might pay just for the ability to scrap this? I would like to ask just a little more than that price - since conceivably, it could be fixed. Body is in decent shape too…just needs a paint job.

    Thanks,

  • Why is my car overheating and then fixing itself?

    I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero with a 3.4 V6. It started overheating about a month ago.

Long story kinda short, I’ve replaced or had replaced by a mechanic - the serpentine belt and belt pulley (which I already knew both needed to be replaced), coolant reservoir, intake gasket and thermostat.

Now the car is not leaking coolant like it used to, but it still sporadically overheats. It’s weird because it can get really hot and then just suddenly cools down fast. I’ve pulled off the highway when it was hot, waited a few minutes and turned it back on and sometimes it suddenly cools down really fast…sometimes I have to turn it on and off a few times.

It was suggested that it might be an issue with the electric fan, but as far as I can tell, the fan is spinning the same speed when it is working properly and when it overheats. I haven’t noticed any difference in the speed.

The one new possible clue I noticed is that when it starts to overheat, the vent blows cool air even when the heater is on…when the engine starts cooling down, and the vent blows hot air again.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  • Why is my car overheating and then miraculously cooling down?

Sorry this is so long – but I decided I needed to provide all the symptoms for a good possible diagnosis.

I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero with a 3.4 V6. It started overheating about a month ago. The water pump was visually leaking, so at the same time I replaced the water pump, I replaced the serpentine belt and belt pulley (which I already knew both needed to be replaced) and coolant reservoir because it had a small hole in it.

It drove for about 3 days and then overheated. I took it back and they said it needed to have the intake gasket replaced (I also learned that these engines are known for intake gasket issues) I had the intake gasket replaced and had the thermostat replaced at the same time.

I checked the coolant yesterday evening and it was fine although there was a small amount coming out of the reservoir release valve.

The car has been running good for about 3 days but this morning on the highway it suddenly overheated again. I pulled off and stopped the car for about 2 minutes. Then I decided I wasn’t in a safe location so I decided to pull up a bit and get off the highway. However, when I started the car and went forward, suddenly the temperature started to drop and very quickly went all the way to mid-level and actually a little below. I was able to drive it about 7 more miles without it going above the middle line.

Any theories you have are greatly appreciated. I’ve spent too much to just junk the car, but that’s about what I feel like doing. Most of my travel is on the highway, so overheating really stinks and I can't afford to pay the mechanic to fix anything else unless it really needs it...

    Thanks in advance!

  • Why does Half the house have electricity with breaker on or off?

The electricity in my house is acting very strange. Last night the power went off 3 times, but when I flipped the breaker, it turned back on. Now today, when I have the main breaker on, only half of the house has electricity, when I turn it off, that side turns off, but the other side turns on.

Is it just a faulty breaker? Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks for your help.
