First of all : its your life..

if the girl wants to be friend with why do you care about others!

And good and bad people are every where, i met some very nice people there,

and also experienced racism there too many times.

I of the encounters which i never forget: once i went to a jewelry shop called "Michael Hill", and i asked the price for the a gold pendant, then i asked if there was the same thing in white gold, and she replied : what yellow gold! (Im an asina BTW).

This happend in Wollonong mall, NSW.

Blindman, there is more racism in the states that you will find in Australia, the only eyes that will be on you if you act like a jerk. Just be cool.

On the contrary, cj. They are making the valid and accurate point that in Australia a person's personality is much more important than the colour of their skin or country of origin.

There are some racists in Australia, there are anywhere, but in general you should be fine. Australians don't categorise people by "race" as they do in the USA. We are interested in where people come from but an American, for instance, is American whatever his skin colour might be.

It won't be the colour of your skin that can cause problems but your attitude. Just be friendly, don't go on about how great things are else way and you will be fine.

All of these people are putting disclaimers in front of their advice as if they are assuming that he's going to behave like a jerk. That's prejudice in itself.

A few of you are really gilding the lily here.
