What do you think was the most disappointing anime?

You were looking forward to it, but when it came out it was a big let-down. The series started spectacularly, then just stopped trying. The anime had a lot of potential, but never lived up to it. Which anime were you most dismayed by and why?

    DNAngel. I adore the manga, the artwork is one of the best I've seen but when the anime came out it was just sub par. The anime wasn't terrible but compared to the beautiful artwork and storyline of the manga the anime really fell short. It sucked even more because with shows like FMA proving a studio can make up good non-canon stories, DNAngel's crew just didn't get it. Also the animation couldn't capture Yukiru Sugisaki's skill.

    Tenjoh Tenge. Same as DNAngel. Great artwork, long interesting story, lackluster anime. The fight scenes and animation were good but compared to Oh Great's art none of it came close. The anime's story was also bad as it focused too much on past characters after introducing Nagi and crew. If it continued maybe the producers could have better figured out how to go about the story. I also had the same issue with Air Gear.

    Burst Angel. Maybe it's just my lack of a penis but I just never got into this after people hyped it up. The whole show after a while was just Meg gets kidnapped, Jo comes in kicking *** and saves Meg, repeat. I'm sure it's great but it was nothing special to me.

    For me the biggest one was probably Elfen Lied. The way everyone talked about it I thought it would be really good, but the over the top violence and over the top moe fan service mix just didn't work for me. I got through the first disc, but was too creped out/bored by it to finish.

    A newer one was Un-Go, I went in expecting a really great mystery (because everyone was raving about the writer) but it fell short on that end which would have been alright if they developed the characters more; However, it didn't really do that either, so it was a big disappointment overall. I got half way through the show, and then they announced that the back story of the main character was going to be in a movie not in the show, so I dropped it.

    Those are the main ones that come to mind right now.

    For me it was:

    >>Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles

    The first season was ok, as it followed on with the manga, but the second season was such a huge let down.

    Obviously the fillers were fillers, and when the 2 special series came out, it skipped all the action!!

    I mean... I WANTED to see Fai verse and go all crazy with Kurogane and King Ashura... BUT THEY CUT IT ALL OUT. One of the best fighting/dramatic scenes in the TRC manga, and in the anime... THERE WAS NOTHING.

    Also the ENDING of the 2nd special was a let down. I was pretty much sobbing (on the inside) and flipping tables at the finale of TRC, the anime.

    Pretty much, Tsubasa Chronicles the ANIME did not even finish. It was really a waste of time for me to watch it ;u;

    IT WAS SUCH A HUGE LET DOWN, MY INNER RAGE !!!!!

    The manga was much more satisfying, and I really WISHED they'd animate it.

    Tsubasa Chronicles to me was very unique as it took characters from OTHER CLAMP animes and put them into 1 series as completely different characters. That was why I was really disappointed by the anime.

    Source(s): Has the whole anime and manga series at home ;u;

    Inuyasha. My friends were saying it was good and all so I tried watching it. The plot seemed good but it wa dragging on. It is a popular anime and many people like it so I though I would as well, but no. After the fifth episode it got boring and annoying. So I tried watching the sub version. It was better, but I still hated it. The story was dragging on and in every single episode there was a new theme, setting and story. That defeats the purpose of anime. I was disappointed.

    The second season of Strike Witches. I don't know why I was expecting a military drama in retrospect, but I was at the time, and I was sorely disappointed when it turned out to be more fanservice and slice of life. So I went back and watched Lucky Star for the 50 billionth time.

    Kaikan Phrase...

    The manga's supposed to be amazing and it really focuses on the romance. But the anime is poor quality and the romance starts half way through the series.

    Most recently, Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon. When I heard about it last year, it seemed awesome and I thought it was going to be really good. When it came out...huge disappointment...not like I thought it would be like at all. It wasn't very serious and the plot was pretty lacking.

    High School of the Undead.

    This is only me personally. I cant get past the perverted scenes to enjoy the actual Undead infested world they created.

    I had high hopes for a Zombie anime

    Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira. Was looking forward to it, 'cause hey, it's Higurashi, but then they turned the original mind f*ck horror series into a magical girl-loli-ecchi show -.-'

    GetBackers

    It really started off with a bang. But once it reaches the Limitless Fortress arc, frankly, it jumps the shark.
