Example of Law of Contiguity?

I do not get it! Can someone give me an example or explain it in layman terms please? Thanks!

    It seems to mean that if two things happen together once, your mind will think that they always both happen together. So like if a bell is rung every time a dog gets his dinner, pretty soon he thinks he's getting dinner when he hears the bell (Pavlov).
