Men of all ages, your thoughts on what "Man Up" actually means?

I hope to get some serious answers to my question from men of any age. When you say or when someone says to you "Man up", what does it mean?

To me, and I am a female, I break it down to "do right" or "be honorable", but I would truly like to have your thoughts on this. Your answers will help me in a discussion with a friend, and having thoughts from people that I don't know is what I need.

Anyone is welcome to chime in and thank you for taking the time to share your honest viewpoint.

In my opinion, man up means if you have made a mistake or done something you shouldn't have and it gets found out you should admit to it.

well if someone were to tell me to man up i would view it as an insult.

man up - to be without emotion, in situations don't cry over spit milk.

    - to be strong and do heavy lifting, for lack of a better word.
