We own a small farm in the mountains of WNC and grow organic produce and raise free range chickens. We are taking a break from raising goats right now due to health problems but will get back to producing top quality cheeses in the future. In 2012 we will begin our share-a-pig program to provide a way for people to have fresh pork in their freezers year-round. Buy local and use sustainable products as much as possible. • A website seems daunting to me... is it?

I know that a business needs a web presence, and I have owned several domains for years, but when I start looking at building a website, my brain explodes. I am intelligent and successful, but this one thing freaks me out and I would like some help from you geniuses out there... PLEASE....

First, are those web templates worth it?

Second, are site builders on hosting sites really able to create nice looking sites, and if so, do you have a favorite?

Third, What is a good, solid, reference for someone who wants to make a website but is totally freaked out by the process?

Please be kind... I know if I can get through this I can create something useful. I just freak out at the thought of it all...

Thank you for any and all assistance, and much respect to those of you who are able to create websites. I applaud you.

  • I need a reliable chainsaw for our small farm.?

We have five acres, and use the saw for firewood, clearing, etc. It doesnt need to be commercial grade, since I couldnt afford one anyway. If you have experience with a saw that will start pretty easily and consistently, thats really what I need. I have two right now that I fight with all the time.... and it shouldnt be that well for tools that are well maintained by an experienced user.

I would appreciate your insight on the good and the bad, because at this point I am pretty frustrated and wondering if there is such thang as a good chainsaw!

Thanks in advance for your time....

  • Log splitter engine wont start.?

We have a 22 ton log splitter with a Briggs and Stratton engine, 6.5hp. There is no serial number or other identifying marks telling me the model of the engine. It wont start. We have had it for several years and bought it new. The oil is clean, the air filter is clean and I have a new spark plug. When I prime and pull the cord to start, it roars to life for a second, then dies. We disconnected the fuel line and ran filtered fuel through the system. I have no idea what to do next and cant really afford a repair bill. Any thought on what else I can try?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • Waterproof a canvas bench swing?

I was given a nice outdoor swing. It is on a metal frame and seats two or three people. The covering seems to be of strong fabric that I think is canvas. I have cleaned it (it was covered in mildew and even moss) and would now like to put a waterproofer or preservative of some type on it but not sure what to use that will not stain or damage clothing. I appreciate your input. Thanks!

  • Men of all ages, your thoughts on what "Man Up" actually means?

I hope to get some serious answers to my question from men of any age. When you say or when someone says to you "Man up", what does it mean?

To me, and I am a female, I break it down to "do right" or "be honorable", but I would truly like to have your thoughts on this. Your answers will help me in a discussion with a friend, and having thoughts from people that I don't know is what I need.

Anyone is welcome to chime in and thank you for taking the time to share your honest viewpoint.

  • Speaking vs texting, does it matter to you?

I am old compared to most of you, most likely, and I remember life before cell phones and texting, when time could pass before talking to someone and life wasnt so much about instant gratification.. (yep, I am THAT old)

Do you find that with regard to relationships, that you use this method of communication more to keep from being in person with someone? Is it a good or bad tool to use when trying to get to know someone? I am interested in your thoughts on this. What would the difference be, in your opinion, getting to know someone without all the instant communication?

Thanks in advance for your thoughtful responses.

  • I need information about hosting and domains please.?

I have been online for years but am still confused when it comes to domains, hosting and transfers. Here is my issue. I purchased domains from one provider, but found a hosting site that I preferred for my websites. I was told to add the domain names to my account then change the nameservers. I did that but I am still not able to access the names to start building a website. I don't even know what questions to ask next. I would be so grateful for some good info in plain words for a web dope like me.

  • Wood stove pipe stuck during cleaning.?

We have been using a wood stove for years. Three years ago we got one that is free standing in our home with a black pipe that goes straight through the roof. We have always cleaned it with the right wire brush with great results. We recently discovered that at the top of the stove on the inside is a pan just below where the flue begins that catches ash and creosote. The debris inside was quite deep and we tried to clean it to no avail. It is not removable.

We went to the place where we bought the stove and they explained how to remove screws and slide two of the pieces of pipe apart to remove it in order to clean the top part of the stove. Well, we got it apart after a great deal of trouble, cleaned the very dirty pan and now we are trying to replace the pipe.

It is supposed to fit back into place, then we slide the pipes apart to make them tight against the ceiling fitting and the stove fitting.

They wont budge. I have slathered them with dish soap. I have slathered them with WD40. I have wiggled and bumped and pulled but no matter what we do those pipes wont slide back into place.

Does anyone know of any lubricant or magical spell to make these pipes slide without causing fumes or flames when we relight the stove?

I know, we could call a chimney sweep and may have to but someone must know what to do here. I am exhausted.

  • Anyone know about Whites Till-R-Plow?

We were given a wonderful Whites Til-R-Plow for our garden. I have not been able to find anything about it online. It is an older tiller and I really need to know how to maintain it and finding a users guide of sorts would be very helpful. I know the basics... oil, filter, etc... but things like belt size and the other attachments and adjustments, well, I need help. Anyone? Please?

  • Red Eared Slider likes diving?

Our RES has a new trick... he climbs up on his basking spot and has taken to jumping off the ledge and into the water. He does this repeatedly and he seems to start performing when we are near his house. He is very interactive with us and a very busy turtle in his aquarium but we are concerned that he could harm himself with all this diving. He is about 4 years old and his shell is about 6 inches from front to back. There are no chips or cracks, plus he recently shed. His dive is about 8 inches into 4 inches of water. He seems happy but it is a new behavior and we dont want him to get hurt. Any thoughts would really be appreciated.

  • Why is the Buddha represented as a rotund man?

I am asking this respectfully... with no disrespect intended to those who practice Buddhism. I am genuinely curious about how, in a country and period of history where people were slender, and Buddha gave up everything, why is he portrayed as being so large? It doesnt make sense to me from a religeous standpoint, or from a historical one either. Can someone clarify this? I would appreciate it if there is any documentation about this. Thanks to anyone for helping, and again, I am asking with all due respect. Thank you.....

  • 1988 Toyota Pickup with water in gas line... need mechanic to fix?

My truck has had this problem before. After a rain, I will start it up to go somewhere and after a few miles, it sometimes sputters and stalls out, but then will restart and rumble and run rough as the water goes through the system. Then, I can restart it and the truck will run fine again. This time, though, I was driving and it stalled out with all the signs of the usual water in the line but it wont restart. It just wont turn over. We have replaced the plugs and wires, and the battery is fine, but what, if anything, can be done without having it towed to a shop for repair? Could it be something other than water in the line? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

  • Can I download new info on a used cd-r?

I have a number of cd-r disks on which the info is no longer needed. Is it possible to download information over the existing files, or should I just throw them out and use new disks? I use cd-rw disks for things I know I am going to change, but sometimes I use the cd-r disks because they cost so much less. Help?

  • How do I remove a mirror attached to a wall with adhesive?

We bought our home last year and I decided to change the mirror in the guest bathroom. I removed the screws and clips holding it in place, but it is still stuck to the wall by some adhesive. It is firmly attached to the wall, so what do I do to remove the glass short of breaking it?
