PLEASE answer people think I'm emo how do I deal with this???!!!:/?
Recently I have started to like some rock bands (for example black veil brides, falling in reverse and asking alexandria) and I have also started to act more true to my own style by wearing dark clothes and makeup. My so called 'friends' however have started to say that I look like an emo (emotionally unstable person) and that my new-found strength to be true to myself isn't a good thing. This is really knocking my confidence and word has got around so that now I am constantly faced with people asking me why I am an 'emo' and avoiding me because they think that I am the stereotypical 'emo' and that I am bad company. I just wondered if anyone knows how I can deal with this without pretending to be someone I'm not and going back to what I was like before?? Thanks

people are bitches. Get a hobby- singing/instrumental/surfing/cheese rolling/extreme ironing/sport. Look for something your good at, to show yourself. nobodies perfect, and nobody has to be something their not. Join clubs and meet people with similar interests. Get new friends. If their not supporting you when you want to be yourself, they don't deserve your genuine friendship, and other people at social groups/events probably do.

well youve pretty much answered your own question.. dont pretend to be someone your not, as long as u know your not an emo then go you! .. your friends sound very young to me and immature, especially people asking you why u are an emo, even if you were why would it matter ... if i was you i would wear a black tshirt saying "emo... i think not". have a joke about it. dont let it bother you... your not going through a fase, they are, let them. And if it still bothers you then there is nothing left to do but change.... or get some new friends

wearing dark clothes and makeup to express yourself? Pretty much everything you just said points to EMO. Maybe the last step is to admit that you actually are EMO. Most people don't like the real you. So you can choose between being liked, or being yourself. My suggestion: Get through high school being liked, then if you still feel the need to be emo after high school, then do it. But honestly I don't see too many emo kids in college - which tells me its just another dumb high school fad.

You should definitely be yourself, but adding a little bright colors will help. not a lot but just like a necklace or a bracelet that's a bright color. i know a girl that loves black veil brides and wore a lot of black and she did that and people backed off. she wore a few bracelets that were all happy and stuff. if it doesn't work than try adding a little bit more color, not so much that it interferes with you being yourself. good luck!

Who says that "emo" stands for "emotionally volatile individual"? anybody is different and you particularly should have the skill to precise your self for who you're, no longer for what or who somebody else thinks you should be. Staying actual to your self isn't continually uncomplicated. no longer anybody is going to accept as true with you and assist you. from time to time you will experience on my own. you're no longer, yet you will experience it. interior the long-term, being actual to your self and expressing your self as you notice in good shape will serve you superb.

What you should do is start to move away from music a little and wear cloths with a little more colors and also listen to back and people and just hangout with your so called "friends" more that should help

I agree with Dan, too many people dress like it now, and its kind of ruining it for those who genuinely wish to dress that way to express themselves. I fcking hate the word emo anyway, im so fed up of hearing it

Heeey.. You can change your outfit like if you are with them together with th group... Or the choice is yours whatever you want.. Choosing yur style is not an emo it is your fashion but sometimes you have to think how to pleased them, explain to them that only your being rock style change but not your intire personality to be avoided.. Be who you are.. If they can't accept you then, they are not your trully friends.. Let them realized that not all the time you can please them..

People that dress like that are attention wh*res more often than not. You may be acting true to yourself, but everyone else ruined it for you.
