Struggling! Need Help!?
I am in £10,000 worth of debt. I have more going out that i do coming in and i am in need of emergency dental care. I tried to claim for a HC2 form but they wouldnt allow me to have one because i live with my parents.
I go in tomorrow for a root canal but its going to cost me so much that i dont think i can afford it and might have to cancel it. Is there anything that i can do to get free dental care?
In the UK just to let you know. Thanks for everyone who has ideas though x

If you are going to an NHS dentist your root canal will cost you £47. However many NHS dentists will do a mixture of NHS and private dentistry and will only do root canal privately because the time taken is lengthy, materials and instruments used are expensive and the fee the dentist gets paid to do it doesn't even begin to cover these things. Even if he does do it on the NHS you will not qualify for free treatment unless you are:
Under 18
Under 19 and in full time education
Pregnant or had a baby in the last 12 months
In receipt of Income based jobseekers allowance
In receipt of Employment support allowance
In receipt of Income support
In receipt of Pension guarantee credit
Hold a current HC2 certificate
Hold a current Tax credit exemption card
Hopefully you can get seen by an NHS dentist and only have to pay the £47.

Unless you are in receipt of certain benefits you will have to find the money to pay for the root canal treatment. This is currently £47. Not a lot for an hour and a half of treatment and another follow up one next week.
HC forms are for limited income and not related to your debt levels at all.
Somehow you need to find the money, because to leave this much needed treatment is going to leave you with far more additional problems and pain and the need to pay out much more than at the moment.

I live in the UK, and surely your dentist can offer a payment plan of some sort? You can't be the only person who has debt :) Give them a call tommorrow morning before your appointment and explain the situation, see if you can pay on a monthly basis at a rate that suits you and the dentist?

In the U.S, technical schools will give you reduced rates if you allow students to work on you. It wont be free, but it'll be close to half the price of what a dental office is going to charge you. See if there is a school that trains hygienists yearby and if they take volunteers or if they will help you or know of someone who can.
