My dogs are puking and pooping blood?

My pomeranian/yorkie mix began vomiting and pooping bloody diahhrea. After 2 days of her doing it, my maltese/poodle mix has began doing it. We took the yorkiepom to the vet the day before the maltipoo started and the vet ran no tests, but he said it wasn't parvo. Both have been vaccinated for parvo. He charged the h*ll out of me and gave me medicines to help for nasuea and diahrrea. So far, it has NOT done a thing and the problem keeps getting worse. I don't know where to turn. I'm tired of worrying and I'm tired of cleaning the messes up. What could be wrong? :( The yorkiepom is 3 yr old and the maltipoo is around 5. I also have an older mixed breed (unknown) that is about 11 yr old and I'm worried about her getting it. Also, both dogs have had normal energy with no signs of slowing down.

Time to look for another vet. I doubt it's parvo, but your lazy vet has done nothing to diagnose or treat the causative agent - he's just hoping it will go away and it obviously won't. There are a dozen different things it could be, each requiring a different treatment or medication, so find a new vet (get some recommendations form local dog owners) and take both sick dogs in, along with some fresh stool and vomit samples in ziploc bags. If they do have a nasty infection (bacterial, viral or protozoal), go back to the old vet and demand a refund.

You need a better vet. If he's incapable of making a diagnosis, which won't happen without tests then ask him for a referral to a canine internal medicine specialist.

If he can't be bothered testing the dogs he can only take a guess at what's wrong.

Call the vet you saw and tell him the medications he gave you are having no effect.

  • The Parvo vaccine does not make the dog 100% immune. They can still get it, although rare. Maybe they got into poison or a food that is toxic to them.

Call an ER vet. You have small dogs and they will dehydrate very quickly and death is not far off.

Yeah, this chick should already be on her way to the vet. Unless the chocolate you gave her is a large amount in relativity to her size- it's most likely not that. Pizza rolls either. But, I would be concerned about the toilet water. If she is poisoned you may have a serious problem on your hands. Poisoning is described as something that damages and mutates the functions of organs. It doesn't even sound healthy. No bueno. Now, off to the vet with you, mi amigo.

I'd get them checked out properly--have some tests run. It sounds like parvo and I wouldn't trust the vet who wouldn't even do a simple blood test. However, it could be that they ate something that is reacting badly...

Have you concidered the environment you are walking your dogs in?

When you walk them, is it possible they are getting exposed to any lawn care chemicals, insecticides, or industrial hazards?

I don't want to alarm you, but recently where I live some sicko was leaving out bits of meat laced with rat poison in a park that is popular with pet owners. Maybe your dogs have been poisoned?

go to a different vet to get another opinion

and, there are strains of parvo that get past the immunizations... there have been documented cases of properly immunized dogs getting parvo.. not often, but it does happen

try giving them chicken and rice to see if they will be better. since both of your dogs are having this problem, i would go to another vet.
