Need some relationship advice?

Okay so... I know that peple say its not all about the looks, I go for looks & personality. Now what I don't get, is I've tried to go for guys with no good looks , but their personality I still dislike. I feel that looks part take a big role in personality with a person. Example: if your good looking your going to be confident, social, outgoing, etc. But if your not that good looking then you demonstrate the total opposite, which is what I dislike. I like confident, social, funny, intelligent guys, overall a well rounded person. I don't mean to sound cocky but a lot of people say I'm pretty, so when I talk to guys they change their personality for me , they'll be all gushy & trying hard, and I'm just not into that I like being mutual 50/50. So I see my friends dating not that good looking guys, and their personalities don't attract me either. They say stop being so shallow & give anyone a try to win your heart. But I can't I've tried & I just don't like their personalities cus they try too hard and are not themselves... so how is it that my friends can date almost anyone , but I can't? P.s I'm okay with guys are are okay looking and have decent personalities, but I hardly see those anymore
