Why do doubter say the Bible is not reliable & that there are no other sources? Read this.?

The Bible reports that Jesus of Nazareth performed many miracles, was executed by the Romans, and rose from the dead. Numerous ancient historians corroborate the Bible's account of the life of Jesus and his followers:

Cornelius Tacitus (A.D. 55-120), an historian of first-century Rome, is considered one of the most accurate historians of the ancient world.1 An excerpt from Tacitus tells us that the Roman emperor Nero "inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class...called Christians. ...Christus [Christ], from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus...."2

Flavius Josephus, a Jewish historian (A.D. 38-100+), wrote about Jesus in his Jewish Antiquities. From Josephus, "we learn that Jesus was a wise man who did surprising feats, taught many, won over followers from among Jews and Greeks, was believed to be the Messiah, was accused by the Jewish leaders, was condemned to be crucified by Pilate, and was considered to be resurrected."3

Suetonius, Pliny the Younger, and Thallus also wrote about Christian worship and persecution that is consistent with New Testament accounts.

Even the Jewish Talmud, certainly not biased toward Jesus, concurs about the major events of his life. From the Talmud, "we learn that Jesus was conceived out of wedlock, gathered disciples, made blasphemous claims about himself, and worked miracles, but these miracles are attributed to sorcery and not to God."4

This is remarkable information considering that most ancient historians focused on political and military leaders, not on obscure rabbis from distant provinces of the Roman Empire. Yet ancient historians (Jews, Greeks and Romans) confirm the major events that are presented in the New Testament, even though they were not believers themselves.

    "Cornelius Tacitus (A.D. 55-120)"

Note that Jeebus was long since dead before Tacitus was even born. Same for Josephus.

Note further that the historians all talk about the existence of CHRISTIANS, not "the" Christ. These historians basically say: "Hey yo we know have these weird people in Rome, they call themselves Christians after Jesus Christ who they BELIEVE did these miracles and rose from the dead".

That's just reporting what other people believe.

We all agree that Christians exist, and that they existed, and we agree on what they believed. That doesn't mean that these believes are true.

There is not a single source in history who can confirm that Jesus was the son of God or that God exists. All of the other stuff is unimportant in the grand scope of the big picture. People existed back then, yes. Locations existed back then, yes. Events took place, yes. But that doesn't prove anything about the Jesus being the Savior part or the part about God creating the universe. These stories were passed around for years before they were ever put in writing of any sort. Most were all based on real events that occurred. But the supernatural parts were added because human beings can not do any of that stuff and animals can not talk.

    Historically you are correct.

Theologically, Mormonism is a false teaching that is opposite of what the Bible says about how to gain salvation.

It is called a "cult" in many circles.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

this is a great observation but If you would apply the same historical proofs to the Mormon texts you would have no proof of any of the events. This should be a clue to dig further and see if it really happened the way they tell you it did. Great observation though, thanks for sharing it.

you need to look up some independent research not funded by the church. You might notice just a few inconsistencies.

You do realize, don't you ...

... that the "scholars" you mention weren't even born until YEARS after the mythical "Jesus" was DEAD ...?

Legends, stories, tales, and fables ... nothing more.

I totally agree with Gigi. GOD could walk up right in front of them and they would still say He doesn't exist. Oh well, that's their problem!
