How to write a "This is just to say" poem?

I want to write a this is just to say poem. It has to be about something we got in trouble for in the past. I want to write about how once I colored on the walls with magic marker, and got in a lot of trouble for it, but how do I word it poetically? I want to say something like, but the walls were so blank..so bland. How could I have not occupied them with this perfect show through of character. Or something like that

Update:

That poem was actually really good. Thanks for sharing it with me, but I'd rather turn in my own work.

HERE IS A POEM I JUST WROTE FOR YOU -- BUT PLEASE TELL YOUR TEACHER YOU

    HAD HELP.

This assignment is very much like a judgement day

Since we must start our poem with "This is just to say..."

... that years ago when I was small

I was naughty and wrote on my bedroom wall

With colorful magic markers nobody could ever erase.

Although my mom said NO, I still wanted it to be a perfect space.

Because my bedroom wall was quite plain and bland

Why would it be so wrong to make it more grand?

Needless to say, my parents were so angry they saw red

Funny -- didn't they see I had used blue and green instead?

From that day on I knew it was so much better

To follow anyone else's rules right down to the letter.

Years later my character is still flawless and perfect

My marker messy wall was a lesson with a valued effect !!
