Ablation possible , my gyno doesnt think so?

My gyno wants to do a full hysterectomy for a 4 cm fibroid tumor.The tumor is halfway into the unterine wall.Am I candidate for ablation?

    Get a second opinion if you must. If I recall correctly, most cases of benign tumors are removed via hysterectomy. Usually removing the section it's in. If you get fibroid tumors constantly, then that may be another reason to remove parts of the uterus. In addition to that, benign tumors of any kind could possibly transform into a malignant tumor, so removing the area a benign tumor is in is more like a safety precaution. You might be a candidate. . .But you shouldn't get your hopes up.

    You need a second opinion. Get it at a big teaching hospital where they're more up on the latest techniques and might feel more capable of complex surgery rather than performing the more routine surgery of a hysterectomy.
