New World Translation?

You've done a lot of research on this, and I plan to look up some

in some of my Greek interlinear bibles. There's one, though that

is even clearer than you've put here.

Look at John 1:1 in a Greek interlinear bible. I also studied the Greek

enough to see what best Greek scholars (who were just involved in the

Greek) had to say.

My two Greek interlinears (which vary a little, but not much) say

In the beginning, ....and it goes on...ending which all repeat

And the Word was God, but the Greek doesn't say this, and

you'll see the important but key change and difference made.

Like a loophole.

The Greek says and GOD was the Word. Now that's harder to

compromise because you can't say 'a god was the word' because

that doesn't FIT with the rest of this verse. It also breaks the

first commandment...Thou shalt have NO other gods before me.

But this is great material and others answering have added to this.

And for JW's , they would prefer to believe it is some feeling, which

is carnal, not anything to do with Spiritual things. Because that

is how they are, so they judge accordingly. I have seen this

again and again and can't follow this reasoning at all. It seems

so immature to me.

There is a new King James Bible coming out in the near future that has God's name in it almost 7000 times, go to (www.dnkjb.net) to see it, and you can place and order if you like.

I might point out Jehovah Witnesses had nothing to do with this translation of the King James Bible, it is the same as your KJ except the name has been added, (LORD & God) or titles just like President is not a name, it is a title not a name.

What version of the Bible do I find the best to read, (New World Translation) it's just like you speak in your language.

The KJ uses words that do not have the same meaning today as they did 400 years ago when the KJ was written, take 1 Cor. 10:25 it says (everything you find in the shambles you may eat) what does the word shambles mean to you today? More than likely you would say ( a mess, this place is really a mess) the word shambles 400 years ago meant (a meat market) if a person was reading that scripture in the KJ they would not understand the meaning of the scripture.

The New World Translation of the Bible & some other translations corrects this scripture with the words (mean market) now you can understand the meaning of the scripture. There are also other words that have been corrected also.

Even if kolasis was translated "punishment," it *still* wouldn't contradict JWs' beliefs since eternal annihilation is eternal punishment.

The word "me" is missing in several ancient Greek manuscripts and ancient language versions.

Acts 20:28 -

"Lord" is used in place of "God" in many Greek manuscripts. Besides, even some Trinitarian scholars admit that it may be a Greek idiom that basically means what the NWT says in that verse.

The Jehovah Witness Watchtower Bible NWT is horrible.

Its full of errors. They changed the bible text to suit their own theological bias in many places.

Gen. 1:1-2 - "In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of [the] watery deep; and God's active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters," (New World Translation, emphasis added).

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society denies that the Holy Spirit is alive, the third person of the Trinity. Therefore, they have changed the correct translation of "...the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters," to say "...and God's active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters."

Zech. 12:10 - In this verse God is speaking and says, "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son" (Zech. 12:10, NASB).

The Jehovah's Witnesses change the word "me" to "the one" so that it says in their Bible, "...they will look upon the one whom they have pierced..."

Since the Jehovah's Witnesses deny that Jesus is God in flesh, then Zech. 12:10 would present obvious problems--so they changed it.

John 1:1 - They mistranslate the verse as "a god." Again it is because they deny who Jesus is and must change the Bible to make it agree with their theology. The Jehovah's Witness version is this: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god."

Col. 1:15-17 - The word "other" is inserted 4 times. It is not in the original Greek, nor is it implied. This is a section where Jesus is described as being the creator of all things. Since the Jehovah's Witness organization believes that Jesus is created, they have inserted the word "other" to show that Jesus was before all "other" things, implying that He is created.

There are two Greek words for "other": heteros, and allos. The first means another of a different kind, and the second means another of the same kind. Neither is used at all in this section of scripture. The Jehovah's Witness have changed the Bible to make it fit their aberrant theology.

Heb. 1:6 - In this verse they translate the Greek word for worship, proskuneo, as "obeisance." Obeisance is a word that means to honor, show respect, even bow down before someone. Since Jesus, to them, is created, then he cannot be worshiped. They have also done this in other verses concerning Jesus, i.e., Matt. 2:2,11; 14:33; 28:9.

Heb. 1:8 - This is a verse where God the Father is calling Jesus God: "But about the Son he says, 'Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.'" Since the Jehovah's Witnesses don't agree with that they have changed the Bible, yet again, to agree with their theology. They have translated the verse as "...God is your throne..." The problem with the Jehovah's Witness translation is that this verse is a quote from Psalm 45:6 which, from the Hebrew, can only be translated as "...Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom." To justify their New Testament translation they actually changed the OT verse to agree with their theology, too!

The NWT translation is not a good translation. It has changed the text to suit its own theological bias in many places.

However, you will only receive insight if you take the time to research and study it, but looking at your other questions, it seems you too have a personal vendetta against Jehovah's Witnesses and only seek out to spread false information about them and corral others to agree with you. If you are adult and mature enough to take the time to study and research, then I will retract my statement.

Why have you plagiarized another site without giving credit to the source? And as Hannah has said, it comes from a biased website with an axe to grind. Most modern translations have this type of monkey-buisness on one issue or another. Take your bible, turn it to the front and look at the Copyright. A copyright is a legal claim the publisher made about that translation, and legally, you cannot copyright facts, true stories, or public information. That means that any bibles bearing a modern copyright have been so embellished they legally qualify as fiction and the publisher subtly admits it.

The New World Translation is the Jehovah's Witness Bible, and therefore a false doctrine. They have taken and rearranged the original bible to suit their own beliefs. Stay away from it. It will lead you down the wrong path.

Yes, that translation is questionable (to put it nicely) exactly for the reasons you say. They are creating their own translations/definitions of certain words to make scripture fit their beliefs.
