Has the Tea party high jacked the republican party?

The presidential candidates catering to the extremists have really turned me off. Moderate is not a bad word. I'm actually leaning toward Obama.

they high jacked the 2010 election...but proved to just make more grid lock in our Govt. Jusy look at all the good people in the polictical arena who are bailing, like O. Snow, a moderate, who is leaving their long term post in DC..Thomas Jefferson must be spinning in his grave,,the founders made provisions to keep radicals out of political office to keep govt. sane...what we have now is not logical and not in the best interest of the average American...the Republicans have done everything in their power to ruin Obama's presidency at the expense of the American voting public...I would lean very much toward Obama...if for nothing else than the right to have access to birth control and the priviledge of not having pre-existing medical problems standing between you and health care...for all the things Americans hold dear like Soc Sec, Medicare, equality in voting rights, the GI Bill, FHA low interest loans, thank a Democrat..lets not forget these closely held benefits of being an an American in this horrible struggle to recover from 8 years of a failed Republican administration...govt isn't a business or a corporation,,,it is by the people for the people

No, not at all. However, if you are leaning towards Obama, you can't be a moderate, as Obama leans further to the left than most Democrats. Perhaps you are left wing and maybe this will be the second time that you vote for him.

    Anybody, but Obama 2012

The extreme right of the GOP is not just the Tea Party. But yes, the radical right has taken over the Republican party, and that's why they are going down to ignominious defeat in November.

Yeah. What a pity too since the Tea Party candidates pretty much go against every core Republican value.

That's the impression I'm getting. Used to be a few years ago the sane candidates were distancing themselves from the Teabaggers because they recognised them as being extreme and ignorant. Now, well, they might not outwardly align themselves with the Teabaggers yet they do make it a point to say things that are going to get their vote... becoming a bit of an extremist themselves. Santorum has definitely bent over backwards to appeal to the far right nutjobs, if he already wasn't one.

If only! When the GOP runs "moderates", they lose. When they run conservatives, they win.

(Anyone care to guess why the Far Left is so adamant about the GOP nominating a moderate?)

Members of the "Tea Party" are by far the dumbest folks on the planet. Many of them are strapped financially and too many of them say racist things. They are DUMB as hell, ignorant and yet they wield influence within the GOP-go figure-what an EFFED-UPPED party.

while there may have been a tea party during the last election cycle ('08) i don't believe it really exists any more. it's just something the GOP can use to justify their extremist agenda.

Oh! you mean like the Liberal occupy freaks! I will stick with the Tea Party thank you. They don't attack cops and rape their own. Good luck with your choice.
