Is it possible to switch hard drives for 2 laptops?
I have a Compaq CQ60 that the screen was destroyed and lid basically ripped off, so I bought a Compaq CQ62, which is the model right after, I basically would like to get all my songs and files and confirmation numbers for like my anti virus (which is my main reason because I bought 2 years of the anti virus software in advance and broke the computer like a week later.) Anywayss, I just took out the harddrive from the broken laptop and now my question is, can I take the harddrive out of the computer Im using right now, put that harddrive in, get a flash drive, get all my stuff out the old harddrive, then put the new hardrive back into the new computer, I know its prolly confusing but just read it slow and let me know...thanks so much =)

Yes you can do that, Windows may require to be activated again since the hardware changed, but that shouldn't be a problem since you will simply be transferring files.

Even easier - for 25$ get an external case for the drive - it will connect to the laptop via usb cable.
After putting drive in external case - connect with usb cable - transfer what files you want
then reformat external drive - gets rid of garbage os etc and gives you extra storage and an easy backup
