Which camera should I get? The Nikon D5100 or The Canon EOS Rebel T3i?

I normally take pictures of landscapes and animals. Also right now the Canon is $50 cheaper.

go w the canon...the family of lenses in canon are the best. also they are in direct competition w each other so once you start learning how to use your nikon everthing is backwards on a canon or vice versa. if you enroll in a basic photo class and lab at your local college, more people will be on a canon and i can asure you of that. the lenses will be cheaper and easier to find as well as people who know how to work on them

Comparing the specs, the D5100 has the upper hand, but it's really up to you. Try playing with both cameras and seeing which one you like. I am a Nikon user myself, but I'm not bias. In my opinion canon lenses cost less than Nikon's and you generally find more used canon lenses, which can save you money if you don't mind using an older lens. Also Canon cameras have a better video mode. However, Nikon cameras generally takes better pictures.

Canon T3i is a great camera high definition CMOS; high ISO (100-6400);good picture quality; crystal sharp lcd screen for picture review and the lcd screen also is turn-able for framing whenever you need it; support full HD video; very easy to operate.

Same cameras really, just different brand name and some different features that won't matter.

Also, T3i and T2i ($100 cheaper) use the same sensor, so you could go with the T2i and save even more, and get the same camera just different name.

They are both fine. Try each out, as the main differences are the placement of the controls and how the settings are changed.
