Who is Jehovah and why does he need witnesses?

Does he look like John from Delocated because he's in the witness protection program?

    Greetings,

Yes, we do act as witnesses for Jehovah God. Since He has been falsely accused He has requested and given honest hearted humans the privilege to testify on His behalf. Jehovah has been accused by Satan and his followers of not ruling in a just manner (Gen. 3:4,5; Jn.8:44).

We witness to the fact that Jehovah has not caused the terrible things that adversely affect humankind, but it is humans themselves who cause their misery because they have rejected God's rulership and counsel (De.32:5; Js. 1:14).

We have also witnessed Jehovah's love and guidance for righteous humans and His warning to all humans to change their incorrect life course while they can.

We also have seen the evidence of True Christianity such as love within the organization known as Jehovah's Witnesses.

We also witness to the fact that most religions cannot meet this requirement. In fact, when you examine most religions you find that they cannot meet any of the requirements of true Christianity. Their historical record is of bloodthirsty wars, immorality, sectarian violence and factional splits (Mat.7:21- 23; 2Tim3:5; Gal.5:19-23). Today Catholics continue to kill Catholics, Protestants kill Protestants, and Mormons kill Mormons, something true Christians would not do (1Jn.3:10,15; 4:8).

We also are witnesses to the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses demonstrate that they have the Holy Spirit because its adherents have the power to live according to Christian standards.

And we again have witnessed that other religions do not give evidence of having Holy Spirit, since they cannot get their congregation members to live moral lives. They allow practicers of homosexuality, fornication, or adultery to be accepted members of their congregation (Gal.5:22ff; 1Cor.6:9; cf. Gal.5:19ff; 2Tim.3:5). They turn a blind eye to such sins and so their "fruitage" is not a spiritually clean congregation, free of non-Christian lifestyles (1Cor.5:11-13).

We also witness the unity within the true Christian congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses while other religions cannot even agree on abortion, homosexuality, special gifts, or baptism (1Cor.1:10, 2 Cor.13:11, Phil.1:27).

We are also witnesses of the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses right now are performing the greatest Bible education work in all human history! (Matthew 24:14, 28:19, 20).

I can personally testify that I have examined almost every religion and I have not seen another one whose members "practice what they preach," or even unitedly agree on what they should preach. I chose mine because it sticks to ONLY what the Bible teaches and gives absolute proof of being Christian.

We also see the hypocrisy, twisted reasonings and misrepresentations of those who criticize our beliefs.

    Yours,

    BAR-ANERGES

This is a very old 'joke' that is often repeated here but really only demonstrates the unfamiliarity of Jehovah's Witnesses by the questioner(s). If one really would like to understand the meaning of the name adopted by Jehovah's Witnesses, the key here is to understand exactly what "witness" means in this context.

According to the Theological Dictionary of the New Testament, "the concept of witness [is used] both in the sense of witness to ascertainable facts and also in that of witness to truths, i.e., the making known and confessing of convictions." So a witness relates facts from direct personal knowledge, or he proclaims views or truths of which he is convinced.

So a "Witness" is someone that speaks publicly about what he knows to be true. Of course no human has ever literally seen God (John 1:18), but Jehovah's Witnesses realize that God has asked his faithful servants to be his Witnesses and to tell others about Him:

"Ye are my witnesses, saith Jehovah, and my servant whom I have chosen;" (Isa. 43:10) - ASV

Isa. 43:10 also corresponds with Acts 15:14 where it says that God will turn "his attention to the nations to take out of them a people for his name." (NWT)

According to the Bible, the line of Witnesses of Jehovah reaches back to faithful Abel. Hebrews 11:4-12:1 mentions this line as a "great a cloud of WITNESSES surrounding us."

The Bible says that Jesus Christ was the foremost witness of Jehovah: "These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God." (Rev. 3:14) Considering the definition of "witness" mentioned above, Jesus said that it was his Father's name that he made manifest. (John 17:6)

Psalms 83:18: "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth."

In original Bible manuscripts, the tetragrammaton for God's name, Jehovah, appeared 6,828 times. Most Bibles will at least have God's name in Psalms 83:18, although in most translations, most or all occurences have been removed due to superstitious Jewish tradition. Jehovah God wanted his name to be used, though, and the Bible puts emphasis on using it many times. (Matthew 6:9; John 17:26) That is why Jehovah needs witnesses-to make his name known. (Romans 10:13-15)

Jehovah is The only true God and the God above all,His name means "he causes to become",what he wants to happen will happen,Jehovahs witnesses are witness to the Devil and everyone elses that they serve him with truth and witness about him Jehovah,God himself gave this to us here in Isaiah 43:10-12 it says"You are my witnesses',is the utterance of Jehovah,"even my servant whom i have chosen,in order that you may know and have faith in me,and that you may understand that i am the same one. Before me there was no God formed after me there continued to be none.I-I am Jehovah and besides me there is no savior".So You are my Witnesses"look it up in ur own bible and it says the same,we call ourselves Jehovah's witnesses becuase we serve the true God Jehovah and prove it by our living,so hope ive helped.

    .

Jehovah is simply the English pronunciation of God's name.

Just as Jesus is the English pronunciation of his Son's name.

Since Jehovah God has been so misrepresented for so very long, he needs faithful Witnesses to carry his true message.

    .

  • He is imaginary and doesn't need sh!t. JW's are self righteous people so they need their imaginary friend to support their intolerance towards others. It's like a license to feel superior to others. It's pathetic if you ask me. At least they are against violence and war, I'll give them that.

He was accused of murder and his alibi is less than air-tight, if you catch my drift.
