To Christians: If "God" judges based upon if one believes or not...?
Does that mean that his system of punishment gives the exact same punishment to people or eternal torture, no matter the number of their sins?
Does this also mean that one who believes and "repents" for all their bad deeds goes unpunished for their horrible deeds because they believe?
I mean, to believe in the sacrifice and to repent for your deeds is typically what is considered to be the only necessary thing to go to heaven. As long as you accept the sacrifice of Jesus, you go to heaven.
So bad people who repent can go to heaven but good people who don't believe are cast into torture forever?
There doesn't seem to be a just border between heaven or hell. Christians keep saying "If you believe in God, you'll go to heaven. If not, you'll go to hell."
However, there doesn't really seem to be middle ground for good people who were non-believers or bad people who were believers.
Why is it that a "just God" punishes unjustly by punishing those based on belief rather than on deeds? Why is it that good people can still go to hell for minor "sins" while bad people who repent remain unpunished for their wicked deeds?
It might help if I add that I am an atheist who is studying the Bible and finding it atrocious.
I appreciate all of your comments, but I felt it necessary to state after reading some that talked about "your religion" or "the bible. Read it sometime."

God doesn't differentiate. He hates everyone, and everything... men, women, and even babies.

You have the salvation part down pat.
Your theology lacks tremendously though. Who do you consider good, and why are they good. According to God's word, no one is good. We are the villains, He rescued us. Good work though, you are getting there. I want to shake your hand in heaven my friend, and I will fight til my death to help you get there.
Repentance toward the Father, and faith in Christ Jesus.
He died for our sins, according to the scriptures.
He was buried.
He rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures.

i personally don't believe in hell. i think non-christians just die and their soul dies with them but christian's souls go to heaven
