Am I eligible to collect unemployment from a work-study job?
I'm a college student, but am 25 and am living on my own and have been for a while. I was employed through federal work study at my school for about a year and a half, when my supervisor decided that they had to make cuts because we weren't getting enough work in, so my position was removed.
This was very unexpected and has really put me in a bad situation. I've been trying for a couple months now to find another job, but haven't been able to get anything. My school is in a very tiny town, and is flooded with students, so it's difficult to find a job while school is still in session. I've been trying, but nothing has panned out. Does anyone know if I'm eligible for unemployment benefits? I wasn't sure if I am because it was a work-study job, and I don't know if that makes a big difference. Any info or advice would be appreciated.

There are so many variables that can affect your eligibility, and the biggest one is tied to what state you are in. Your best bet is to call the unemployment office in your state and explain your situation, and let them guide you. Every state has their own regulations where unemployment is concerned.
