Daughter ver sick and now is developing red blotches?

My daughter is very sick with pneumonia. I took her to the doc saturday and they said it was the flu, today she was not making any improvement and they said she had pneumonia. Her 02 level was at 90% and they debating about putting her in the hospital but said to take her home watch her close and gave me inhalers, nebulizer, caugh syrup and antibiotics. She has taken all of these meds at some point. She was asleep in my bed I went and woke her up to take her meds and I notice red blotches all over her neck, chest and stomach. Has anyone had this before or know what could be going on? She has had a high fever since last week that has been controlled with meds but I thought maybe it could be from the fever but I am not sure??? Please let me know what you think thanks!

My daughter has had pneumonia.....A LOT! She's had it 6x in 1 day shy of 1 year!! I know all to well how you feel. A fever shooting up high can cause red splotches. Do you think she is having an allergic reaction to one of her medications? What is her age? Age makes a huge difference when we are talking about being this sick. I personally would take her back in! With children they can be just fine one minute and 'coding' (meaning on the brink of death) the next. If I were you I absolutely would not mess with this especially being her oxygen levels are so low! Go with your gut! Mommy's know! I assume you are second guessing yourself due to being on here. Also call her ped. tonight. Most have an answering service and you can talk to a nurse on call. Good luck!

It sounds like she may be having a reaction to something. It could be a combo of meds not just one.

Definitely call the Dr immediately. Most offices have after hrs services that will page the doctor and they will call you back. This is a new symptom and a pretty severe one.

If your office doesn't have an after hours service then go ahead for the hospital. But if you call the doc they may be able to get you in first thing in the morning. Where as you may be sitting around the hospital for quite a while.

  • Well last year I had walking pNuemonia and my oxygen level was at 74% but I didn't get any blotches. I just had to take steroids and stuff. But I was in the hospital or a week. But I don't think u should admit her into the hospital unless it drops below 90%. Also make sure your doctor thinks its a good idea too. Hope I helped.

Yeah..you should take her to the ER! She could be having an allergic reaction to one of the meds they perscribed. If is that and you keep giving "it" it could get worse.(with some allergies it takes time for the body to...get used of regecting something..if that makes sence) and it gets worse each time you take it)

Or it could be her fever breaking..a fever rash, that usualy starts in the torso area, and moves its way up the body. but doesnt go on the arms and legs...for some reason.

that is alot of meds to be taking. I would go to the er, and not leave untill they know if it is one of the meds.(unless they have a good reason why it is happening.
