Opinion on kpop music videos starring caucasians?

ok so I watched the music video for big bang's blue and the actress starring in it was caucasian and that topic was getting a lot of attention. what do you think? I don't really care, but it did kind of surprise me because I was more used to seeing asian actresses/models in kpop mvs. Its nice to switch it up but many people on the comments thought she was out of place. but then again look at mvs from the US it would be nice to have more asians appearing in music videos lol you don't see that too often. what do you think?

    My opinion: Cool.

I love the fact that they're letting other races Korean MVs.

Ex. Jay Park had a black woman as a backup dancer in one of his music videos~

I don't see a problem with it. I just wish the women were more pretty, and that there was more chemistry between them and the artists. Like for Big Bang's blue...she looked like a robot. Her facial expression didn't change once the entire time.

For Big Bang's Bad Boy, it was alright, but again, no chemistry. It didn't make it feel like the guy had really loved the girl, and she had loved him at once too but now she's fed up of him being a "bad boy". There was no connection like that...truthfully when there's other Asians you just get that feel...and TOP and Seungri have acted before so if it was like that, I think it's pretty bad.

But as far as just based on skin color, no, I see no problem with it. It's nice to see them acknowledging that other countries don't just have Asians in them. If they are going to spread, they should accept everyone. They need to incorporate other races eventually though, like black and Spanish races.

Well Jay Park has done black people, and so did Brave Girls, so they're spreading. But I hope they'll have it where one day having people of non-Asian descent is OK. Not for every video, because this IS k-pop, not k-american pop, but it would be nice to see it a little more often. Even if they aren't the main character, at least have them in there to acknowledge the diverse races in the world.

AND HECKS YEA it would be awesome if more Asians appeared in American music videos!!! They're so underrepresented here...but I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that a lot of Asians (NOT ALL, I AM IN NO WAY GENERALIZING.) tend to stay within their community. So they don't spread out much, and since that pattern has been set up for years, it's hard to break it with the few who venture out of their community. But I hope more will get the confidence to do so now, so we can enjoy seeing them around too.

All in all, to me people are people. Music is something that should be shared, not divided into race. So if there is a mixture of races in an MV, and it feels right and the chemistry is right, I'm all for it.

I don't mind either. I think it's a sign that Kpop is trying to spread Worldwide, which is pretty nice. :)

I agree with the other thing too. Asians should appear in US Music Videos as well. :)

A lot of people were probably surprised, because they haven't seen a caucasian in a kpop music video before. Like you said, it's nice to change it up a bit. xD

I'm sure if stuff like this keeps happening, some people won't care. :)

Since Kpop is now really going global, I don't find anything wrong with it. I find it really awesome actually. Jay Park even had a black girl in his "Know your name" MV and I think it's inspiring. Showing the world that skin color doesn't matter :) Beauty is everywhere, skin color shouldn't stop it. Also, "Blue" is not the only MV where Big Bang has used caucasian girls, they have also used them in "Bad Boy" and GD&TOP's "Knock Out" and "High High".

It depends on 2 things (maybe more than that, but I can only think of 2 from the top of my head):

    1) What the artist wants to do with their career. If they want to globalize their popularity and appeal to more fans, they're going to have to realize that their entire fanbase does not consist of just asians. Besides, most music videos have asians anyway, so having a caucasian does a bit more for publicity.

    2) Sounds a bit strange to say this, but there might be certain contexts that would better suit a caucasian model/actress. Like CNBLUE's Love Girl. An asian girl could have done the job, but to me, it's somehow a bit more convincing for a caucasian girl to be more laid back and just chill out even though CNBLUE just jumped out of her freaking poster and is jamming in her house.

I don't mind seeing caucasians so long as they're not trying too hard to be sexy and vulgar. Then again, if they can pull it off, good for them.

Me and my friend were talking about this the other day. First of all the actress was not pretty.. I was expecting like maybe iu or another female celebrity.. But the truth i didnt focus on the model i was focusing on Seungri that was looking smoking hot on that mv :) I wouldnt mind if they have caucasian, latina(that would be awesome) or other race models, you have to change things a little bit.

^-^ Frankly I just ignore those comments~ I don't really care about what race of people starring in kpop vids... I believe they do this to broaden perspective and add more variety.

People of diverse culture and race do a little out of place together, but netizens need to get over it. Oh, she's white~ get past this and focus on the awesome display of Korean vocals and dance skills.

I don't really care what race they are, I just listen to the music~ I'm more used to asians in videos but she was fine.
