First car, what should I do?

So I need some advice on cars. I'm 17 and getting my first car in the next month. My grandparents are giving me a 2002 Crown Victoria for free ( this car is in almost PERFECT condition..no body damage and the seats had covers on them so no stains or rips) , my dad said if I take that offer he will pay for my insurance while I'm in college and if I go 6-9 months with the Crown Vic without any wrecks he will give me his 2011 Ford Escape. I don't usually see teenagers driving these types of cars so, Should I take this offer or take out a loan and try to buy another car?

Its a free car. Take it. Beggars can't be choosers. Then you get an almost new free car after that!

Use some business sense. Take the Vic, a horrible car for a young lady, and research the Kelly Blue Book value. Next put it up for sale with a set price and do not budge from it. Take the cash in hand from the sale and buy a car with better gas mileage and perhaps a bit more socially acceptable for someone of your age group. Do you see yourself in a Vic or a nice clean 2nd hand Beetle or Civic 2 door? Yea I thought so. In the process of doing this you will learn some skills that will serve you for the rest of your life. Don't be one of the dummies asking how do I buy / sell a car. Go do it and you'll forever have that skill. Don't take any loans out ( you probably couldn't anyway) and work with what you've got. A good business lesson for a young lady.
