Atheists and Christians, can anyone either prove or disprove the validity of the Bible?

Please, I'm sitting on the fence and need some evidence to make up mind either way. It seems to me that the existence of the Christian God and Jesus depends entirely or whether the Bible is fact or fiction. I'm interested in REAL PROOF either way, not just unsupported opinion which everyone seems to have.

Do your own research. Read the bible in its entirety. It will be painfully clear it is a mythological work.

Then read the work of the scholars. Not just the religious ones with an agenda but those doing real historical-critical scholarship. The countless versions of the earliest texts with omissions and additions. The contradictions...the archaeology...it all points to it being a a grouping of disparate texts written by men and lumped together by men. But don't take my word for it. Do the research and you'll find this out for yourself.

The Israeli archaeologist Israel Finkelstein from Tel Aviv University has shown that the story of Joshua at Jericho could not have happened as it is written in the bible.

In Genesis Abraham and Isaac were supposed to have had dealings with Abimelech king of the Philistines, and in Exodus Moses said he was not taking the coastal route to Canaan in order to avoid the Philistines, BUT the Philistines did not arrive in the Levant until sometime AFTER 1185 BCE, too late for the time Abraham, Isaac, and Moses were supposed to have lived.

There is absolutely NO evidence that the biblical Jesus ever existed. The first century Jewish historians Flavius Josephus and Philo of Alexancria traveled throughout Palestine during the first century, bur they never wrote about the biblical Jesus. Josephus wrote about 20 different men named Jesus and about James the Just and John the Baptist, but he never wrote about the biblical Jesus. About 200 years after Josephus died some Christian (the main suspect is the bishop Eusebius of Caesarea) redacted some forged passages into the works of Josephus to make it look like Josephus had written about the biblical Jesus.

Sure. The bible presents a timeline that has the earth about 6,000 years old. Scientists have irrefutably dated it in the millions of years old. Since that's the point where the bible starts, there's really no reason to continue. It starts with a creation story to fill a void in knowledge. That void is now filled with actual knowledge, and the rest of the book is largely irrelevant.

It has to be proved to you personally, not by someone saying this or that about it. I know the Bible is true and no one could convince me otherwise. The Bible came alive to me when I was 27, and has been alive to me ever since. The Holy Spirit confirms the truth to us. There are many reasons why the Bible is the true word of God, but those who have no spiritual insight won't know if you are telling them anything true or not. The hecklers never quit mocking no matter what anyone says and therefore it is no use to throw pearls before swine. I do hope the Lord will open your eyes to see the Kingdom of God as it is!!! Jesus is for real!!!

it fairly is a around definition - being a Christian is the element that facilitates you to interpret the Bible properly so as which you already know you're a Christian. My question is, why could every person decide to get on that roundabout?

    No.

I'm afraid it's pretty much impossible to prove or disprove the claims completely when keeping an open mind. Some present some good reasons to believe it was edited and such, but other people, like Bible scholars, can do the opposite.

The Bible says different things to different people. Beliefs that creationists take as gospel today, such as the fixity of "kinds" and the impossibility of life from nonlife, would have seemed absurd to creationists of centuries past, and those past creationists would have cited the Bible to support their views (such as Moses's staff changing to a snake and the plagues of Egypt appearing from nowhere), just as today's creationists quote the Bible to support their own views

No, as a Christian I have no scientific proof to show you.

But I do have news for you, Religion ≠ Science.

Religion is spiritual, if you don't want to follow it, no one's forcing you to, but it's good for you.

Here are just some random health benefits of religion in studies done by Duke University: http://www.spiritualityandhealth.duke.edu/resource... If you're interested in knowing more benefits, you can email me.

The Bible, the Torah, and the Koran all make impossible, illogical claims. There is no testing necessary.

Evolution is a fact and it does not go with the bible. So, either god is a contradictory liar or Christianity is false.
